I'm Building A Gun... from PLANS!!!
OK, so I'm not and that WAS just a way to sucker you into this thread.
Just wanting to prove a point to a kid who doesn't seem to have a clue what the hell he's doing or getting into. He wants to buy plans from the internet and then make/craft his own airsoft gun (make a replica of an existing gun, not something 100% original). The plans are on how to CNC and machine all of the parts so he will be manufacturing the upper and lower receivers.... After being told this isn't a good idea, he thinks it's a better idea to make his own REAL working carbine version 7.62 or 'something.' So... who thinks this is a GOOD idea........?

Ummmmmmmm is he for real, last time I checked it was illegal to manufacture your own firearms without proper government controls and licences. Did he watch on of those DIY FDM build videos on Youtube and go hmmmm I can do that.

How old is the kid anyway ? Because running a working CNC machine is require more skill than he expected. Does he have any idea how heavy that machine is ?
Well, If he is in high school, he can start with wooden model and probably help when he grow up but make sure don't get caught by nanny soccer teacher, otherwise he is screw for manufacture baby killing machine, that's jail time man. lol. No, It wasn't a good idea. |

No, it was legal to manufacture firearm in Canada except the prohibited part, assume you have according license like PAL for non restricted and R-PAL for restricted firearm. Unless you plan to sale that DIY rifle then you need manufacture license and such. For personal, go for it. I can made a .22 rifle if I have skill and want to or CNC an AR-15 lower ( you need to register that since it's restricted, call CFO for that ) |

If you know this kid, I'd suggest staying away from his circle of friends for a while. Glenn Boucher isn't a bright one.
