So I took the advice to wait until I am of age and its been a little under 2 years and in a few short months I will be of legal age to jump into some games and get better gear!! I do have a question though. For actual games is it a good idea for me to start out with gas guns?

as a starter gun, AEGs are usually best as normally the are cheaper to run and maintain.

GBBR for kick. (Mid cost, difficult to fix, difficult to maintain)

PTW for outer realism, and best performance. (High cost though)

Start with an AEG.

If you want a Gas gun then maybe a pistol or something but honestly I rarely use my pistol, it's more there for show than anything. That is unless you like rushing up and get below your MED and need to use a pistol, then it's a different story.

Not sure what the landscape for gas guns is now since I've been out of the fold for a but but if you seriously want one I believe the KJW M4 is one of the better beginner rifles out there because you can game it right out of the box compared to WE where you have to pretty much replace everything.

I went with a gas gun first, and all that came afterwards were GBB.

Love them, and love them, what's there to say? Yes it's a lot of work and maintenance but I find it easier to work on then AEG's.

Huge factor depends on your budget, so.. if you have a low budget I would go AEG. They are also tend to be more reliable, and run well if you play winter outdoors.

Example of a price gap would be... 1 gas magazine can run you $30-50, where 5 aeg magazines can run you for the same price.

Are you kidding? I would rather take ALL of my GBBRs apart than work one AEG, AEGs are a nightmare compared to GBBs for working on, GBBRs have like... 8 parts

Fair enough, but most people do not do their own maintenance. Parts for AEGs are more common, easier to get, cheaper, and not to mention the extensive list of gun doctors available.

Maintenance is more involved. You can't leave it for a year like an AEG. Prone to a wider variety of issues as well. Don't get me wrong, I think GBBRs are cool, I just don't reccomend them to newer players. Their is nothing wrong with them, but training, maintenance, and budget.

Same with Systema. Higher cost on parts and accessories. The maintenance is low, except you'll likely need the motor mod within the first year.

Guys forget about the maintenance and what not, for both systems are people on this forum that can fix it.

Lets talk about your gaming experience,

GBBRs have limited ammo, your looking at nothing over 50RDS. afaik

AEGS, They got hi caps, mid caps, and low caps. as a newer player you'll find yourself using a lot more ammo, I know I did, I saw someone move and I emptied an entire magazine

Get a 'AEG' with a Polarstar fusion engine. Expensive, but reliable and awesome performance.

Ditto on the ammo...

IMO - Start with an AEG, maybe upgrade to a P*. I would throw a P* into virtually all my guns if I could.
See if you can rent/loan/borrow/beg to borrow a GBBR for a round or three, get a feel for it.
I would be all over the GBBR world, if they made a weapon system I had interest in.

Easy one, both.

GBBR Indoor (Ammo count is not a concern. Always close to more.)

AEG Outdoor (Need way more ammo to penetrate foliage. More ammo will usually be far away back at base.)

Ultimately you wont see many people running gas outdoors. Unless 1. It's a true milsim and the ammo count is capped putting you on a level playing field with an AEG. Or 2. The guy has been playing long enough to only need 1/6 of the ammo you do. << *I still do not fall into that category.

Echoing what Mr. Tanner has said, GBBR/GBBSMG for indoors is tits. You dont go through as many rounds playing indoors and the realism and badassery of a bang stick can't be beat in close quarters.

AEGs are best for mid-long range engagements as they have more consistency in all weather conditions and have a larger magazine capacity. To get through bush you gotta put some volume down range. As well, if you are like me and like to be a stalker in the bushes an AEG is better simply for noise factor, or rather the lack-thereof.

Ultimately it boils down to what kinda of environment you intend on playing in most often; I would go from there. I have 2 GBBRs and 1 AEG, but for variable-range-all-weather-bitch-blasting my super-tuned AEG is the go-to simply because it never goes down.
