Customized Gun Painting
How hard is it to actually camo paint your own gun?
Are there companies in Ontario that paint airsoft guns professionally? |

It's so easy to paint it's not funny.
If you want to pay someone get it dipped instead of painted.

He says that, but then there are so many poorly painted guns out there lol
The biggest thing is prep. prep is critical. As far as actual painting, there are some tips and tricks to make it look good, use high quality paint (krylon is crap quality), and don't drown your part in a first coat. Then use a nice MATTE clearcoat to really take the shine off it. |

EDIT: I just read above that "Krylon is Crap". Yes. But it's also fucking cheap, easy to use, and looks awesome with wear. It's my go to paint for that cool guy look. Examples at the bottom of this post.
I can snakeskin my gun in about 5 minutes work time, with about 10 minutes in between the 3 coats. Its laughable easy if you know how to use rattle cans. I have literally done this 30 minutes before major milsims, on the field, goggles on. --- Protips. Painters/electrical tape all ports, and places you don't want paint: Trigger groups, ejection ports, muzzle port. 12 inches from nozzle to spray surface minimum. Long fast movements are better than short or slow movements. Don't try to coat the rifle in one coat. You want to "dust" the rifle with each pass. Use a cut up coat hanger to hang the gun up so you have 360 coverage. Before changing from you base coat, double check ALL angles for missed spots. Use scrim netting for snakeskin, or basket ball netting, or your mom's fishnet netting: Bad guys won't know if it's from your own closet... Start with a light brown, or tan base coat. Then use a dark brown to DUST over the scrim netting. Then use OD Green to dust EVEN LIGHTER over the brown. Remove scrim. Have a beer while it dries. I let my paint coats dry for about 1 beer per coat. When you're done, you should be near the end of a 6 pack. ---- The more time you take to PREP the areas, the better it looks, the more time you take to PAINT the area, the shittier it looks. Painting should be quick long movements. It's important to prep the cans by shaking for 2 minutes before you spray the first time, and regularly throughout. ---- The gun can be used 10 minutes after the last coat if you don't mind the BATTLE WORN LOOK. But you should cure it 24 hours if you want the paint to stop feeling like a warm piece of rubber (tacky). The only fresh shot is the group shot below. The CQBR was photo'd after 10+ cqb matches and at least two 24hour games in the wet forest. The AK has been used 5 times indoors. The paint holds up, you can see my finger marks and places where the guns wear on my chest rig from carry and rest. EDIT: If you want to be a real painting wizard, you need break out the claymore for the drinking/painting party.

How much sand CAN you fit in your vagina!?

Krylon camo paint, available at Canadian Tire. Use several layers, in whatever pattern you like, and then seal it with an over coating. It'll hold up pretty damn good. Put grips or pads wherever your hands, cheek, etc, whatever, consistently touch, or even camo tape.
This is only two tone tan/green.

real operators just slap on paint anyway they can. fast and dirty is how the pro's do it.
hell, rub some dirt into it while it's still wet. not only will it help with giving it a textured surface thats easy to grip, but also looks bad ass. ***INSPIRATION!*** http://www.militaryphotos.net/forums...-SEALs/page448

I followed this guide and it worked fine with me. If you don't put a clear coat over it, it'll get beat up and look badass in just a few weeks. Then you can clear coat it to keep that look longer. IMO, a beat up paint job shows a lot more "character" to a gun. TL;DR, Krylon Camo isn't crap, it just allows you to get the beat up look a lot easier.
