Remove main valve from we m4 gbbr mags?

Is there a way to do remove it without using valve tool?

Take a very large flat head screwdriver and a dremel tool...grind/cut it to shape to make it look like the tip of a valve tool.

You can also use an appropriate sized sheet of steel...and cut out the notch you need to make a sort of key. You may need to heat treat/temper it so it won't bend.

Or...you can use a lathe and turn a cylinder to fit the valve...then use a mill (or even a good file) to cut the prongs you need to fit. Again, you may have to heat treat it...depending on the metal you use.

Or...you can buy/borrow a valve key.

Modify makes everything!!

If you are ordering parts like your valve, chances are there's a key for sale at the same site, I recomend buying one with your next order. Makes things easier in the long run.

I did what M102404 did and cut mine out of an old flat head screwdriver... easy, and cost me no money, plus its already hardened so it won't flex or bend...

If you can't modify a screwdriver as has been suggested or if you don't want to buy/wait for a valve key you can also use the inside measurement probes from a micrometer to apply the force required.

Did this for a few months when I first started working on resealing GBBR mags before I bought a valve key.

Thanks for for all the responses! I bought a key, but the notches are to large for the grooves of the valve. I'll try some of the techniques/modifications you all used. Thanks again

If you have a good file you could try to grind the sides of the notches to bring them down until they will mate successfully with the valve.

turn it CCW to loosen. Should be like that for most valves
