3 Shot Burst
Hey Guys, I am sure that this has been discussed to death somwhere around here, but I did a couple searches and could find anything obvious, so I thought that I would post this question here anyway.
Is there a device that would allow a normal AEG to shoot a 3 shot burst when you pull the trigger once? I have a JG - MP5 that I would like to convert from "single shot" to "3 shots" on single shot mode, and then still have a full auto mode when the shot mode selector is moved to the full auto mode. Please let me know if there is a device that can easily make this happen, and if there is, where can I get one. Thanks in advance for reading and responding to my question. Gord

ASCU2 and most other micro-controller/mosfet combo will dot that
Except that the burst is usually set when tapping the trigger on full auto (holding the trigger will still shoot in full auto). Some can be "configured", others can't. |

A control unit, check AWS / ASCU2

I think any solution to provide 3 round burst on the semi-auto selector position will require bypassing the trigger mechanism, since you'll need the power going through the MOSFET regardless of whether the physical trigger contacts are open or closed to continue cycling the rest of the burst. This limits you to more expensive/advanced wired in FETs.
The only simple drop in solution I know of will only be able to change your full auto to 3 round burst, since power is still going through the trigger contacts: http://www.aegwizard.com/AEG_Burst_Wizard.html

I've got an ascu ver 1 in my m4 and it works good. Not too hard to install.

I was taking his requirement for "easily" as key, since pretty much all of the ideal solutions require opening the mechbox either to solder to or replace the trigger switch, and maybe install a sector gear/cutoff sensor as well.

Hey Thanks for the responses Gents, much appreciated.
Now Takagari, you have caught my interest with this "Cheetah" device. What is it? Who sells it? and, How hard is it to install? I am fairly handy when it comes to working on my own guns, not a "Gunsmith" by any stretch, but I get bye. I would love to hear more about this Cheetah thing, I would really appreciate any additional info that you could give me on this device. Thanks in advance Gord

The v2 AWS raptor can be configured like the cheetah. But the bonus with the aws or ascu is the micro switch.

HAHAHA old school you are becoming my favorite poster on here... Look up a guy his board name is scootervauto at least on EAR here in edmonton I think its the same here. I know he has done a few guys M16's to do the 3rnd burst with his own built mosfets that he builds from scratch with aircraft grade wiring.
He did my mosfet for my TM M14 to shoot semi auto only for a DMR build because we could not find a selector for it. And just to prove 6 degrees of separation Tunabreath from the above post is the gun doc that is doing my new hopup for my m14 and "dun dun dun" My ASR hop up that we are discussing upgrades on in your other thread. thats funny! |

I have two AWS Raptor FETs and the Burst Wizard. You can feel safe that either of those will give you your burst functionality.
- However - Once you start researching all the options in this area, the Extreme-Fire stuff (Cheetah/SW-Comp, etc), AEG Burst Wizard, Burst Avocado, AWS Raptor, etc etc.... You will quickly get fired up about a lot of ideas and features you never thought about. If that happens, and you have the budget, and you absolutely want the most awesome solution out of all of these, and you have a v2 gearbox, then the AWS Raptor is the way to go. If your budget is medium and you just want to plug something into your battery without having to think much, get the Avocado (Toronto Airsoft has them), or the Wizard. They work beautifully. The Avocado is slightly smaller than the wizard and has better packaging around the circuit so that it's better protected in your gun. Hope that helps!
