Now sure how...

Ok so I've searched and couldn't find anything, now I'm posting this to all of you...

Ok so I have an ics M16 and am thinking I want to turn it into a C7 but not sure how to get the look right... I've looked on google and it seems that the C7A1 would be the closet fit... Any suggestions?

You might have a big issue with finding a C7 trades for your frame. ICS metal bodies are rare as is, but a C7 trade would be a dime a dozen if they even exist.

If you are looking at everything else... it can be done.. some parts might need modification because ICS generally have some weird fitting parts from my experience with my GF's ICS. Nothing a little file/sanding/dremil job can't take care of. I'd probably go with the C7A1.. a friend of mine has a flip up rear sight that fits pretty snug under the elcan scope too.

Many companies make clones of Elcans, a real one will cost you though. And as for painting the handguards... why not? This is your gun, give it the look you want and not what others tell you it should be.

Hey Shane,

In my regiment we still have the old balls C7A1. They all have black furniture (for all you realism fans it is shiny from being handled for the past 20 years) and Elcans. One of the more common mods some of us do is bolt a small picatinny rail onto the bottom handguard and throw on a foregrip. The main rule is that it can't be a permanent modification to the rifle. The only painted guns I have seen belong to guys in specialist trades (recce, sniper, etc), but as far as I know they have a little more leeway. As for the Elcan, you can use mine for a while. It isn't the exact copy like the Samurai version, but externally it looks close, and the mount is still crap. We also get issued EoTech 550 (I think, someone help me out here), for guys going on deployment.

Hope that kinda helps.

p.s. get a collapsable stock and buffer tube to make it into a semi C7A2. I have seen metric *&%$ ton of mods done to that.
