Pump grip for shotty?
Hi all,
For shits and giggles I recently picked up a Crosman S34P (M-3 “shorty”) from Crappy Tire in order to fart around with a project Frankengun of minimal cost. After painting it, roughing it up and detailing it a bit, I realize that I’d like to install a proper pistol grip on the pump. I find the grip kind of slick with gloves on or when my hands are damp Where do I get and how do I do that? Would it hold solidly or snap off at a moments notice? I’ve seen TM’s with it but am not sure if the bolt holes in the foregrip would match and such. And I don’t want to really start gooping it up with JB Weld or the like If inadvisable, I’ll just keep it for farting around with it and maybe use it as a CQB back up occasionally. Thanks in advance.

you could probably use an AK pistol grip and fill the inside of it with a largish dowel or something then use a screw and a shit ton of epoxy all over the whole thing.

epoxy? really? well at least you wouldn't be making a crappy gun much crappier!
OP: for the best results on a shot gun, you'd want to replace the sliding forearm handle to one that has a pistol vert grip already. seeing as it's a crossman, good luck at that. making one would work but I can see it lasting long. you'd have to drill through the existing pump or hope what ever grip you bolt on will line up if there are existing holes. the problem then lies in the quality of the plastic in that sliding forearm handle. under that much torque, I can see the plastic cracking at the stress points, ie attachment holes, very quickly. The crossman's take a fair amount to cock it so it will likely break in the end. what I'd suggest is to break the shotty down, paint it, and add some grip tape to the that forearm handle. |

Ya, I'm not making a sloppy mess of it with Epoxy or that... but thanks
Coachster, exactly the response I expected. Thanks for the clarity. I'll pass on the pistol grip and just grip-tape it as you suggested. Cheers

What I've seen done before is using a set of longer screws, and screwing a rail to the bottom, then using a standard vert grip on it. I think I saw a picture of one done that one in the media section earlier today actually.

How will longers screws help? Anything longer than 1/4-1/2" is going to stick out or rub the outer barel

If the screw is slightly longer, it can run through the rail, and still grab the nut inside the foregrip. Otherwise, the rail won't stay attached to anything!
