Young Airsofters

Hello everybody. I'm under 18, i'll be sixteen in a few months, but im not new to airsoft. My brother introduced me to it and hes an avid player, i understand alot of the rules and how the sport works. On the FAQ it says a player thats at least 16 can play if the Host allows it, my question is, is it common for the host of the game to allow this?

Not really. Here in the lower mainland, theres a few places that allow 16 year olds, but from what I've heard and seen in places like Ontario, it's strict 18+.

Fairly common.

Fill in your location data and check with local fields.

Its all dependent on the host; their mood, their past experience with youths, game type, available spots, and many other factors. Ultimately you'll still have to contact the host directly to see if they'll let you in.

In Ontario, there's a law that prohibits airsoft under 18, so you'd be out of luck.

In other provinces, it depends. Some have "noob days" that will accept underage players a few times a year. Some hosts wil accept you if you're not retarded.

A few rules of thumb for you:
- Don't say "yo im 12 and im vewy maturre can i play wit ur team???"
- Don't be l337deltasnipar
- Be mature; but
- Don't say you're mature. Show it.
- PM the host and ask him politely.
- If the host says no, well that's it. Don't start arguing, or don't come raging on ASC saying how you're the future of the sport and bla bla bla...
- If you know personally established players (not "forum friends", but IRL), ask them if they can vouch for you.
- If you're accepted... you're lucky. At the game, prove your deserve it. Call your hits, listen to the rules, don't overkill, etc.

Looks like you read the FAQ, so that's a good start for you.

Well good luck getting in. My 18th will be next September, and I'm more than fucking unbelievably excited to play. Hopefully my guns last that long, let alone a couple games...

Wow.

A noob who read the FAQ.

I hope your interest in the sport survives the next two years. In the meantime, why don't you volunteer your time at your local airsoft field as a "combat photographer?" If your brother is willing to take you along, you should take advantage of the opportunity to get some sweet footage and it'll get you involved in the "action" without having to worry about the legalities of you holding a gun.

I was just going to say something along those lines. I play and played before I was of age. The reason, and ONLY reason I believe why they let me, was because I came out to a game, and literally just watched for a few times. I told them I knew i was underage, and just wanted to watch, learn what i could, and get to know some of the guys. From there, they will start to learn more about you, your attitude towards the sport, and your maturity. I won't say this will apply to you, or get you playing early by any means, but it sure helps to get your foot in the door, get to know some of the guys, and show them your mature enough to wait. Good luck

No true, 18+ to buy no law about 18+ to play or use

we have had 16 yo players come to our games. We have yet to have any problems with the youngsters but keep in mind its up to the host of that game on if you can play or not.

I would suggest you contact some fields in your area and see if they allow under 18 to play

This maybe a dumb question but I'm curious, Why is ASC more pro +18. The U.S.A. Airsoft community is +14, So why is it higher here in Canada?

Long version
Due to the nature of airsoft guns...specifically the fact that they look and mimic with precise detail the appearance of real fire arms. It just makes more sense to to ensure that those that handle them are at least the legal age of majority so that they and only they can be held responsible for their actions.

Short version.
It looks like a real gun, if a person causes shit with it they get in trouble and not their parents/legal guardians.

18+ is only an ASC thing, each province has their own mindset and rules in regards to age restrictions.
