Mp5 outdoors
My bro wants to get into airsoft and get himself an mp5.
he wants his first gun not to be plastic, and long lasting so he wants a fullmetal one. Most of our games here are outdoors though... it's more of a CQC gun though , no? unless upgraded? What are your thoughts on this or recommendations? should he really get that or should get try to find something more of an outdoor gun? |

Any gun can be an outdoor gun. MP5's are fine as outdoor guns, and my buddy ran a plastic TM one for 5 years.

Many guys at our field use mp5's and do just fine, if its an mp5 he want then go for it.

Works fine and seriously its easy to put a 3**mm barrel in and a silencer., I'd recommend a silencer anyways like 1 of the flashider ones since you don't need much to silence it, looks great and it'll help be stealthy.

Mine works just fine outside. Very mobile and maneuverable (found that especially handy in large groups of close trees), and I haven't had any real trouble hitting targets at engagement range. Most areas on the field aren't huge distances mind you, but it's been way more than sufficient so far.
As VooDoo said, if he wants an MP5, go for an MP5. I've no doubt he can make it work for him. |

I''ve been running two TM MP5s since I started airsoft in 2004 (only AEGs I've ever owned or used), and they work very well outdoors. Obviously upgraded works better, but only by so much, the best velocity max is about 380fps. My A5 at one point shot 360fps, stock 229mm barrel, minimal upgrades, and I could easily float 0.28g BBs out to 200ft. Mind you, it was about a 4ft grouping at that distance, but they made it out there and kept going.

Several of my teammates use mp5's and they work fine in outdoors games. The inner barrel length isn't too much shorter then the one on an m4. Hell, the stock TM mp5k (with a pdw stock) I have for CQB has been used as a loner for outdoor games and has served admirably, if not quite equal to proper rifles.

Barrel length makes a difference but its a VERY small difference. Most fields have dence enough trees that they are pracically cqb even though your oudoors. Also, back when I had an mp5, I kicked ass wih it, only sold I as sub gun mags feel too sissy to me.

Agreed. I've been using my TM MP5 with Tac-lite more than I use my AK.

Ran my FrankenMP5 all day at the new FTF. All metal CA receiver and front end. No problems/issues with it being shorter and slightly underpowered as it became a benefit in the bush. Being able to turn and reacquire quickly while in amongst lots of trees made for a couple good kills.
