screen type goggles?
So I ordered a couple screen style face masks one is the "army of 2" style mask. Wondering about anyones experience with these. I hear all the time woirries about the safety of these things from bb's (particularily bios) breaking and spraying "schrapnel" into your peepers. However, I haven't been able to find any actual data or issues with this happening. Therefore, I turn to the intellect of the members on here to see if anyone has any actual first hand negative experience with any of the "screen type" goggles. Not "I heard from a guy who knows a guy" or "I heard on the interwebs" but actual knowledge.
I plan to try a little safety test on them myself when they come in, but am not sure what to place behind the eye pieces to represent eyes. (no I wont use the dog). I Thought about ballistic gel but that might be too hard. Anyway my novel here is done. Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks in advance!! |

Well, from experience, I've had BioBB's burst into dust on my mask and get into my eyes, and I wear ESS goggles. I would NOT have wanted to have had mesh goggles on at the time, and this is the predominant reason I do not own mesh goggles at all,

It's like sneezing with your eyes open. Once the BB hits, you will instantly close your eyes. I wouldn't worry about it. The only reason I wear Goggles is because Insurance policies at Fields.

Ah, the chronographing was done with .20g bbs. Either way if something does not protect against forces Above what you wish to be protected from, then it should not be viewed as safe. Going for minimum is not a safe idea as it means you are closer to the fail point.

Northcop, our whole team uses mesh goggles. Never had a problem. We don't allow bio bbs though. I've tested the improved bb bastard bios and they still chip too much.
We love them. Never fog, never scratch One thing though, they are useless in snow. They wipe out any depth perception you have.

We can wear paintball goggles over Screen Masks (EX. http://cdn3.ioffer.com/img/item/145/...WCqc0Ru8a9.jpg) at fields correct?
Or must the mask be over your goggles? |

Goggles Must be Under.
+1 on mesh goggles. We did a firing line to test out the ACM Mesh Goggles, at 1 ft distance, I fired 40+ rounds from my 525 fps BA (Chronied with .2s, but used .3 Bastards for the test). In addition to that my 390fps M14, same distance, same BB weight, 2 lowcap mags (approx 125 rds) on semi and full auto as well as another 200+ rounds from various AEGs. The mesh is dented to shit (expected with that kind of range). But there is almost no visible sign of fatigue (other than dents) the mesh goggles STILL hold strong, and are still safe to use even after that much abuse. I much prefer shooters glasses, but on humid days, mesh is supreme.

+1 on the mesh, I wear them anywhere that allows them.
The woven wire ones are supremely better than the type that's the sheet metal with hole in it, at least in my experience.
