airsoft gun size, pistol holster and real AR parts fitting.

Hi,

I'm new to the sport but realy interested.

I don't have much knowledge about airsoft yet.

I have done some search on the forum before asking, if the answers was there and I didn't see it, sorry.

I would like to know if airsoft guns in general have the exact same size of the real ones. I ask this because I do have a restricted PAL and few legally registered firearms (pistols & AR) I use for target shooting and IPSC.

I have a safariland holster for a glock who lock the gun by the ejection port, I'm thinking about buying the same glock model in airsoft if it would fit my holster and the gun would lock inside.

I also have an AR stock I would like to use on a airsoft AR if the fitting is possible instead of buying new one as I quite like the one I already have.

Thanks in advance!

Depends on the manufacturer, but most airsoft guns are very close to the same proportions as the real steel.

I am not familiar with airsoft.

What my question is, does the element of surprise work on a typical airsoft match?

Yes, for the most part airsoft guns are 1:1 models (I hate the word replica) of the real thing. A holster that is meant for real steel will almost always fit the airsoft version. I use my real Serpa for my airsoft Meu.

Hope that helps.

Airsoft guns are collected by replica collectors, because most guns out there are exact 1:1 scale and have some of the same features/systems a real one does. Simple features although.

Not 100% sure, but some GBBR (m4 Variants) do allow for real steel accessories such as the foregrips, stocks, pistol grips, things like that. Have someone else clear that up though, not 100% certain on the brand of gun that accepts these parts though.

Well, I would think most airsoft guns allow for real steel accessories like sights and shit. All the rails are the same.

Yeah, just meant more for the stocks and rail systems. Most real steel rail systems wont fit on AEG's. I dont think normally anyways. With modifications probably.

People use real steel holsters in airsoft all the time, if you like IPSC you should check out CAPS if you are in Toronto, it's like IPSC/IDPA but with airsoft

Nice! If real steel external AR parts don't always fit, it's not a big deal.

But I'm realy glad that holsters fit!

PTW's will have exact 1:1 dimensions of the real steel counterpart and accept real steel parts HOWEVER they cost an arm and a leg. $1300 outside Canada, so how much do you think they go for once inside here? They can actually go for $1800 or more sometimes, depending on real steel parts (ie. Daniel Defence rail, and totally "magpul-ized") it can go for $3000 or more.

Anyways, that's not something you should be looking at, rather get one of the TM or TM compatible guns and they'll serve you fine (however can't take certain real steel accessories).

Also get working on getting AV'ed and a whole new world will open up to you.

PS: As for the Glock, yes they do lock back on empty (as do most pistol GBB's, mine doesn't however because the mechanism that makes it lock back doesn't always catch either because it's worn down or the mechanism is just off spec and doesn't always catch). Best bet is either a TM or KSC Glock. Try to get a TM first and KSC second. I personally got the KSC because I found it for a great deal however if I was looking for one again and I didn't see that deal I would have gone for a TM.
