Silencers = accuracy?
I'm pretty sure i'm right but hell, i'm pretty sure i might be wrong too,
i've read a lot and basically know that longer the barrel, better the accuracy right? so, is attaching a silencer only good for the looks? or does it actually help by "making the barrel even longer" and thus having more accuracy? |

When people are talking about making the "barrel longer" they're talking about the inner barrel inside the gun.
People use silencers to cover up extended inner barrels. |

people add them to conceal a longer inner barrel, otherwise there is no accuracy benefit from a suppressor

Actually Ive found that if you add a silencer to the end of a normal barrel, your accuracy slight decreases. I had a bolt rifle that was deadly accurate to the point that all the BB holes were touching. Screw on the silencer and my grouping open up slightly. Take off the silencer and the grouping shrunk. Did this with both foam filled and non foam filled silencers.

Adding 5 inches to your barrel won't necessarily make it more accurate either. It's more important to have proper compression parts and a tightbore than a long barrel

I could see how a silencer without a longer inner barrel inside would negatively effect your grouping. Without the barrel to keep the BBs straight till they exit the silencer, the larger bore of the silencer would cause turbulence in the air exiting the barrel.
When the air exits a standard (non silenced) barrel the air can disipate easily, but inside the silencer it only has a bit of room and would cause problems for the BBs that have no more inner barrel to guide the flight path. |

+1...people often don't think about their compression parts, though it's such a huge factor in accuracy. Good compression=CONSISTENT fps=consistent hop up=accuracy.

So you say you have a 10" outer barrel, and you purchase a 15" inner barrel. (random numbers here) the outer brass barrel would come completely straight out, that's when you slide the silencer over it right?
So when they say "14mm" on the description of a silencer, that means the largeness of the inner barrel that's sticking out? and thus you simply slide it over it and screw it on the outer barrel? |

Beside, depending on your AEG or GBB, a silencer will help reduse the report (noise). Work very very well on P90 and MK23.

keep in mind what you will be doing with that gun, if its woodland and CQB settings you might not want to make the gun that long but instead just add a normal size TBB and some other internals to help with the compression.
last thing you want in CQB is to have your barrel come from the corner 2 feet before your head lol |

lol i don't think i'll do it to my gun..i just test fired it and loved how it worked. so it works for me! just was wondering why people bought the silencers ^^ thanks a load guys, and thanks Amos for that info, didn't know that at all

I'm impressed, someone who actually test fires it first to see if it needs upgrading rather than doing a bunch of upgrades right out of the box.
