Starting an airsoft club in Canada
I'm looking for information pretaining to any Canadian specific laws that might affect starting an airsoft club/group in Canada, I've started one in Scotland, but is there anything I should know before attempting it when I'm back in Canada?

Depends on what you mean by an "airsoft club".
Can you explain further?

Probably ontario, and as for a club, I refer to a collective group of friends and associates that I would play with, and through said group expand further on eventually, but basicly just a group of friends

Yea we're not going to be posted until two years from now. My dad is a specially trained guy, there are only about 2-3 dozen other guys who're able to do his job in the military, so they send us where they need him.
Would you say the feel is a good one? |

Depends on "good". Seriously, airsoft in Canada is handled quite a bit differently than anywhere else in the world due to our laws and public perception of firearms.

What could help affect laws in our country concerning airsoft? That's a major question I have, as I someday intend to become prime minister or supreme court judge in the years down the road, so I'd be interested in seeing what could possibly be done now that might help airsoft as a sport in Canada. Also can any one give me an approximate cost of insurance for an airsoft group? Not a business level one, just a club sized one

You really want to help airsoft in canada politically? Play and enjoy yourself, be responsible, respectful and keep your mouth/dialingfinger/hand still/shut. Airsoft in Canada does not need a savior nor does it need a lobbyist. Airsoft in Canada is vastly different then Airsoft in the UK. Take EX's advice the man knows his salt. Get here and play then worry about teams or even opening a field. So once your here, get on out to a game and enjoy yourself. I asked myself out loud the same question when I heard the Prime minister statement. Cheers |

I'm 17 going on 18 not too long from now, I may be either 20 or 21 when I return to Canada. Sounds a bit juvenile to make such large statements I realize, but I try my best, and I am currently unsatisfied with the way our country is run, so I hope to some day alter Canadian laws and policies to the benefit of all Canadians, though I do not refer to airsoft in this case, I just love the sport, and I think it's a good experience that shouldn't be so hindered when there are plenty of effect ways to deal with its regulation

Don't worry about the legal status of Airsoft, there are quiet a few well informed and capable people working on this issue SLOWLY and CAREFULLY, no need to concern yourself with details 2 or three years into the future when airsoft might have changed dramatically in that time. Like I said, Relax and enjoy airsoft over in Scotland and when your on your way over here give the locals a heads up and Im sure you will be welcomed. Cheers |

Thanks for the info and advice, and trust me, I don't think up a dream without a plan.
I already have my education pointed in a good direction for such advancement in politics, I hope though by the time I ever reach such a position others would affect proper change before me. How many airsoft sites are there in Ontario approx? Likely I'll be posted to Ottowa or Kingston, or Toronto, especially from what my father's intentions are. Would I even need to be too concerned on starting a group of my own? |
