Multicam Fabric - Which one to chose
Hey guys,
I am looking at getting myself a set of Tru-Spec BDUs. I'd like to know what differences exist between 65/35, 50/50, 60/40 ? Pros, cons? Thanks |

bdu.com
http://www.bdu.com/fabric-guide.html The bottom one is the info you need. Cheers. EDIT: In my opinion, 65/35 Poly /Cotton is where it's at. Others will disagree. |

dear lord this is a tough one lol
Okay so there'es about 20 different blends of multicam and about 4 major shades. Two of which are green, two of which are tan. Believe me if you put them side by side you'd be like "Hey one's tan and ones green!!" Okay so the 65/35 and 50/50 twill are green. I have 65/35 myself, after time it doesn't fade but the color bleeds. It get darker and GREEN. DAMN GREEN. My field cap is near cadpat green on top. 50/50 NYCO ripstop is TAN. clear, obvious, stereotypical multicam tan. It's ripstop which has pro's and cons. You get a rip, it'll stop short, but you get a pant leg caught on a nail while running and your gonna hit the ground HARD. This stuff is known to fade over time, probably not an issue if your wearing it once a week. Depending on your location, if your playing in more green, go for the 65/35 |

Thanks, I play in mostly green areas so my guess is 65/35. Now between Propper and TRU-Spec? Any comments?

I haven't experienced either myself (mine are chinese) but I was talking to one guy that I met at a meet down here, and he said the Proppers are better. This will have to do until people can give first hand experience. I think "cheap" was the adjective he used, in the bad sense

Well... Propper produce issue items. Truspec has some mil-authorized stuff, but AFAIK nothing issued.
Make your own conclusions (the military sometimes go for the cheaper, sometimes for the better....)

I have a set of Propper Multicam BDUs which I'll switch out to Tru-Spec eventually. They are indeed "greener" overall than my Tru-Spec MICH cover, and there's something odd about the dying process. Propper prints its own Multicam material, while Tru-Spec purchases theirs from Crye. Propper's is by no means wrong, but it does feel different in that it really does feel "printed" rather than dyed. I find it doesn't breathe very well, and you get a bit of that "whip whip" sound when walking, like the rustle of nylon outerwear.
I think that when I make the switch I'll go with the Tru-Spec hunting BDUs and do my own RAID modifications to the top. ACU jackets are useless, and Multicam is better suited to the fall for my area, so I'd rather have the heavier weight material, which is cheaper anyways. www.vtarmynavy.com had all their Multicam on sale a while ago, not sure if they still do. Hope that helps. |

I've heard good things and bad things about both, all about sizing problems. My truspec small-regular jacket is, in fact, a medium-regular despite the tag.

I've had both Propper and Tru-Spec ACU pants; the Proppers wore through the crotch and a couple other spots after less than 2 summers of once a week use, but otherwise fit well. The Tru-Specs I just got last fall, so have only used a couple of times, but the they feel somehow more... rugged. Almost heavier. However, the lower leg pockets are placed waaay too high; if you wear kneepads (and I do. Altas) the straps cover the pockets. On the other hand: I don't know who used to make the US Army issued stuff, but I still have an M-65 field coat and BDU pants (both Woodland) that were issued to me 18 years ago. They're a tiny bit faded, but otherwise almost no wear showing. And these things went through basic training, camping trips, hiking, snowboarding, and paintball/airsoft, as well as being work-wear. Awesome stuff.

Thanks. I tried on a Tru-Spec TRU top the other day, was a Large-Regular but felt larger. So they might be sized differently.

@ThunderCactus:
Is the 65/35 Ripstop green as well, or just the twill? Thanks |

the 65/35 is green as well, and I think they make a 60/40, that's green too
