Being impulsive, or "Oh look at that, a new Shiney! Syndrome" is a sign of immaturity, young Padwan. Ok, I'm 44, and I have the same damned syndrome too.. But i am over 18, and do have other bills to pay, and to prioritize, otherwise.

My point? Financial responsibility and focus/prioritization is all a part of becoming more mature. A year REALLY isn't all that long a period, at all. Throw $5.00 or $10.00 into a pot every week or two, and by the time you get there, you can live being a 17 year old, buying 17 year old things, and by the time you are 18 you've got a good chunk of the $$ to buy a gun - and the way prices are going, it'll be cheaper then also. If you lose interest between now and then, then maybe it wasn't all that interesting to begin with - just a temporary obsession on this or that (I get those too).

I'd hope that Toronto Airsoft would refuse a sale, if you walked in your father and it was obvious that he was buying for you. I was in there today buying my own latest Shiney, and i didn't observe any under 18's there. At the youngest, there was a few 20-somethings there, and a few other old farts of my vintage.

I appreciate your post, but the thing is, all my friends are going to do games and battle during the summer and I know it might not be the best choice, but it's hard just not playing with them. We we're just going to practice in the woods next to my house and we we're planning to go in real games once we get 18, but we would rather practice first. All battles will be hosted on my, well my parents property.

What would you do in my case? I know this may sound immature, but I'm tired of using a Soft-air brand. I'm not that impulsive either though, I just tend getting bored if I don't have any hobbies. I drive my motorcycle and work on my Nitro R/C truck, but I would like to add another hobby to the stables.

I was originally going to buy a new computer for gaming, but realized I needed to do more exercise and play less games, I'm tired of all the games like Call of Duty and such. I really want to belong to a community and I would like it to be Airsoft. You people have been helpful since my first post and I would really like to spend more time here and get to know you guys. I respect what you are trying to say though.

Wrong place. At best you are likely breaking local ordinances unless you live 500 km north of bum-puck nowhere. At worst, you will have a Tactical Team joining you and your group for a little bit of woods-ball. There projectiles don't sting, they kill, and if they feel threatened they may be shooting first and asking the questions later. Prime case in point below.

Your assertion of maturity has just pretty much evaporated, as far as Airsoft goes. It is an adult sport, for a reason - and i can see why some think that 18 is even way too young. Start thinking more of the ramifications of your own actions - that is also a good indicator of maturity.

As for the motorcycle, is it licensed and insured - unless on your own property, it's also likely illegal to be using that elsewhere, even if it is an off-road motorcycle. Too many young idjits crashing them on public land/other private owners land, and then turning around and suing the municipality/corporation/private owner of the property for their own darn negligence.. not your generations fault - mine was responsible for that one.

The point is of the above, we don't really want your generation, taking Airsoft away from us all, by doing the same sort of silly things - and what you described above is becoming increasingly, and frighteningly more common, with bad results for all.

If i were your age? I was your age. I had a job at your age that kept me from doing silly things over the summer, and in the end i had enough to pay a year of college. Airsoft, or other relatively expensive, and unrealistic hobbies for that age, weren't really a financial option. You've already got a few hobbies that cost some money.

foam pellets? some airsoft rifle. Anyways listen to those guys, they know what their talking about. I've been checking out the forums for 2 years maybe longer without even getting a rifle (borrow or rent) and trust me when i say there is a large amount of imformation out there. Also start basic like the KA m4 and build it up to ur dream rifle or get something close to that and build from there. Don't play in areas not designated for airsofting, or you might get some unexpected company.

I paid 4500$ of my earned money on a motorcycle, I pay my plates, my insurance, I have my license, and I don't drive in private land, I drive on the road.

I never play close to other people, but I don't live in town, I live in the country, Everyone knows who we are and most of my neighbors are related to me.

A place which we will do wars is in one of my friends dads land. It's about 3 km's from any house and it's his land. I have had a pellet gun for about 3 years and I never had a problem. I am safe with it, I Never shoot when someone is around, and I always wear safety protection.

I always ride safe on my motorcycle, follow street rules, and I am never rude to anyone.

Then i am corrected on the motorcycle issue. However, the rest of my points do remain pertinent. Whether in the country, rural area, town or city, you just never know who is walking by and who may be gun-shy AND equipped with a cell-phone. Bottom line - unless on an approved field, no matter where you are, you are running a risk. You and your buddies number hasn't come up, as of yet. After all, this is Canada, home of the liberal Suzie Soccer-Mom - who is out to protect her wee ones from scary guns. Guns that can include airsoft rifles, cap guns, super-soakers, pellet guns, etc. That sort of type go out of their way to make life difficult for any individual possessing anything resembling a gun in public, whether a toy or not. As far as i know, the Suzie Soccer-Mom exists from sea to shining sea in our liberalist fair land - you aren't isolated from them, no matter where it is you may live.

I'd sure like to know how much you are paying for gas, insurance, safety equipment and maintenance, and on which motorcycle. They aren't cheap around these parts - I know, i've got a few in my own garage. That must be one hell of a part time job. If you've got enough money to afford that on an ongoing basis, then your argument about maybe not having enough money/spending it on something else instead of Airsoft within a years time, is pretty much invalidated.

In any case, you aren't going to be getting any assistance on the gun acquisition issue here until you are age validated 18+, for a reason. You do display some of those reasons. That should be the end of the discussion, as far as that goes.

Thanks for making yourself more clear. I pay about 20$ of gas per week, 250 on insurance, and for gear, I bought myself a pair of boots, some gloves, and I got a riding jacket for my birthday last year.

I only make about 5000$ per year, but I like to spend my money wisely, I buy some expensive stuff, but I never buy "nick nacks" however you call it. I don't spend my money on worthless stuff. Air soft was a hobby I was interested in joining.

I do however understand your point and I understand that I can no longer get help until I am 18. After reading your post, I agree. However, how would you feel about I buy a gun, do some mod/upgrades, buy gear, and learn some more and talk to you guys on Non-AV sections. Then When I turn 18 I will be able to more fully enjoy the sport.

You made me realize that it may not be such a good idea playing close to the public, but do you think it's rational that I buy one and work on it inside my house, and wait. I will be able to learn in the mean time. One of the things I was hoping for in airsoft was to build an outfit, work on my gun, and learn how the internals work. I hope you do understand my point though.

PS: I am in no means trying to ruin the name of the sport, I will take your advise and not go near public and wait until I am 18 to play.

I understand your perspective - I am not so old that i do not remember when i was also young. The high-lighted portion of your quote is reasonable, achievable and realistic. While you may not actually be playing until you are 18.. you are getting a head-start on getting everything needed to do just that. Once you do turn 18, and if you still feel strongly about Airsoft, then you are well ahead of the game in terms of knowledge and equipment, to join right in. A year is not a long period of time to wait at all.

Edit: while your Father might be able to buy the gun for you - he in essence then assumes responsibility and financial liability for that gun. If something happens that would cause harm to someone else, in theory at least - he would assume the financial liability - which is hard to enforce outside of the home. It's hard to go after an essentially asset-less and legally non-responsible 17 year old, if he or she should put someone's eye out in an act of either negligence or malice. This is the basic reasoning behind the 18+ restrictions, as i understand it.

If he buys it for you, it'd be wise of you to not take it out of the family house until you are 18+, to avoid a chance of watching the family house turning into the poor house.

I thank you for realizing how I feel about it. I will do my part and listen to you guys, and only build, learn, and shoot in a small target in my garage.
