hey delta76, thanks for the info. Have the exact same issue with KA body as well. And likewise, only a little bit of sanding is required to the gearbox. Here is a pic of where to sand(for both KA and G&P metal bodies).

so far 1 more issue arose. The rear body pin jams up with the gearbox because the "Heat Dissipating Plate" shit takes too much space. Again, solved by sanding of the outside of the gearbox.

I'm suspecting it might require sanding of the selector plate as well. gotta check tonight.

Keep me in the loop. I'm still using a sketchy stock G&G mechbox in mine, but once something goes wrong with that, I think im going to build a new box, with this case

alrite, trying to fit TORUS into a KA body is just fitment problems after problems. It's really not worth it.

This time the front of the gearbox is too fat(where it's circular), which gets obstructed by the ornamental plate(or the bolt). So it won't go in. Needs even more sanding.

looks like Modify focused a little too much on reinforcing and not enough fitting.

Well I finally finished my build and let me start by saying wow!!.

After struggling with removing the 6mm bushings on a Modify SMOOTH gear set for over a week I finally got them off and was able to install the 7mm bushings and throw the set into a TORUS.

After some light modifications to a G&P upper receiver, the mechbox fits like a dream. I can only describe it as a rubber on rubber fit, no play, but easy to slide in and out Absolutely no issues with the 7mm bushings and the selector plate, it slides over with ease.

The rest of the internals are the best Modify has to offer. The seal the TORUS has with a King Arms enhanced hop-up is beyond belief. The o-ring on the hop-up that contacts the opening in the mechbox surrounding the nozzle (which I thought was a gimmick before installing) actually serves to anchor the unit quite well, the fit and seal is incredible. I've installed a Modify S110 spring, I haven't chrono'd but I'm assuming 400 fps+ with the 363mm 6.03 tightbore installed. The solid positioning of the mechbox in the body, paired with a Systema Magnum motor (sorbo installed as well) feels like firing a stock TM at 270 fps no perceivable whine or excessive thump.

Back to the TORUS itself. From what I've experienced it is easily worth every penny of the 60 bucks I paid for it. I'm no engineer, but the having dealt with your standard zinc alloy mechboxes in the past, handling the TORUS is an experience in itself. I had zero issues with fitment of any internals, they were all Modify so this wasn't expected, still, not having to file or shim any areas was nice. When closing the mechbox you notice the malleability of the aluminum which allows for a nice tight fit. The beefy Torx screws included are impossible to strip and anchor themselves nicely into the mechbox, there is an audible pop when loosening the screws; no threadlock required.

I've only put a couple hundred rounds through it so far, but I'm looking forward to seeing how the mechbox stands up over time, here's hoping the added reinforcement bars do the trick!

My 2 cents is you can't go wrong with this mechbox, $60 dollars is a steal when you compare other shells at the same price range. I definitely recommend going with this for any build, even if you have to persevere through some dremeling to get a proper fit in your body.

Delta76- How is your Torus GB and gears holding up? Are the gears really that quiete? I'm looking to pick these up for myself w/ the most important aspect being noise. I've heard TM aeg reviews on youtube and noticed TM aeg's always seemed quieter than other aeg's. Any info. would be greatly appreciated.

Since this thread's been resurrected, I'm curious if you plan on gaming this gearbox in the cold now that winter is upon us. Since one of the touted innovations was the reinforcements bars which are supposed to keep the front from splitting.

C'mon, guys. How do you like your modify boxes and gears. Are they holding up? Have the gears taken a crap yet? Have you managed to bust the GB's yet?:hammer:
