I'm going to carry on this thread, just so I dont spam up the board like I used to.

As for gear, playing in the Ontario area, I've heard that CADPAT is always one of the best because of the Canadian color and whatnot. So is this true? I don't particularly like CADPAT, but I don't mind it, and I already know it's available at a local surplus store.

I also need some advice on tac vests...everything I looked at at our surplus store looking like they didn't have any mag pouches. Maybe I'm wrong, but I swear there werent any....

Any idea's on what BDU and a good brand tac vest to get?

vests- there are MOLLE vests, as in a modular system where you can customize it, the basic vest has no pouches of any kind; there are also pre-made vests with pre-made pouches, which tend to be cheaper.
there are also chest rigs, which also have pre-made and modular. Google image will tell you the difference immediately.
Get whatever camo you think looks the best.

For camo it's actually best to have a few sets for different types of areas but the best to get as a first would probably be what you like the best and what you think makes you look badass.

Personally I started with Canadian OG 107 (Olive Drab), then went to Flecktarn, now I'm working on my way to acquire a set of Multicam.

A good brand is probably Phantom/Pantac, they are sweet Chinaclones man. You can also pay a visit to Huang's retail thread for Vests and other gear (the non AV section for now and the AV section after you get AV'ed).

I've always liked the look of mixed camoflauges, like a flecktarn bottomn, simple OD top or CADPAT, something like that. Does that contrast well or make you stand out like a floodlight?

I have mixed. Flecktarn and US woodland look pretty nice.

As for a tac-vest, I'd probably go black or simple colors like OD just room for 6-7 mags and other crap, like batteries if needed, etc. I can't see myself carrying much else, there's really nothing I'd need, unless I've totally missed something, like radios.
