Also, since the gearbox is a version 1, you cannot do any upgrades on it since no companies make parts for it anymore. So once the gun does break down, you are kinda screwed. Although, I have heard that people on Arnies who bought the FAMAS like 20 years ago still have the gun functioning today so it is quite durable. |

Thanks for the encouraging words. I'm not too worried about my gun creaking, I'm sure that'll be the last thing going through my head in the middle of a firefight.
As for the mags, I read a bit in the "Mods' forum on how to make an M4 fit the FAMAS. Seems fairly simple, I'd probably want to try it on a lowcap first so I'm not paying more if I ruin a perfectly good mag. Kind of a shame they haven't updated the gearbox but if it keeps the cost down I'll just do my best to keep it greased, cleaned and working smoothly. Of course I'd talk to a gundoc before anything, but it'd be interesting if I could switch out the gearbox's if it were to break on me down the line (I likes me my FAMAS) |

actually, a metal hi-cap and a metal low-cap costs the same... Well, for some brands anyways.
Metal TM M4 mag ~$20 Metal DBoys hi-cap I got for $17 each. |

Gearbox is mostly the shape actually.
V1's are for the very first guns that came out (FAMAS) V2 is for M4/16 and variants V3 is for AK and variants V6 is P90 IIRC V7 is M14 IIRC Although there are modifications made to the design to make it better it's mostly the shape actually.
