yea, i dunno exactly what to do because i'v never taken a gearbox apart. It might be cheaper to buy the parts but then i'd have to pay to get it to a gun doc or something... unless there's a local that can do it for cheaper... Oh and i was using bb bastards .25. I have some madbull .25's aswell so i'll switch to those asap.

Learn if you want. It's a good skill to have and not hard at all if you're mechanically inclined (even if you aren't, it will just take some more time). The net is full of guides.

Switching BB's (at least these two brands at the identical weight) theoretically won't help your range, albeit if you're using really shitty quality BB's the flight path will be better as it'll bounce around the barrel more evenly and will spin more regularly out of the hopup.

One other thing to consider isn't just the tightbore but the hopup rubber itself. A good hopup rubber of an appropriate hardness can make all the world in long distances; a shitty soft rubber with a hotter gun won't give you enough hop to lift the bb to the distances needed. And judging (just entirely guessing here) by your avatar, you have an M4; a one-piece hopup unit can help as well.

But for some decent increases in range, clean your barrel and hopup, get a slightly hotter spring (with metal bushings and metal spring guide to prevent excessive wear and tear) and if necessary a better piston head/nozzle/cylinder head for improved compression.

When you replaced the inner barrel, did you ensure you installed the brass stabilizer ring?

I've seen too many people install inner barrels only to leave it out, (especially when using mad Bull Black Pythons, as they are a little thicker on the outside diameter, and most people cant get the brass ring on).

If you don't have the stabilizer ring, your inner barrel and hop up are not forming a complete seal and you are losing air pressure each time you fire a BB.

I also forgot to mention to give your barrel a good cleaning after as well. Use a light silicon oil that is plastic and rubber compaitble, and proper cloth and cleaning rod. Keep cleaning until, there is nothing coming out, or nothing left on the cloth.
