the point is.. events like this are not uncommon.. and when one happens everyone gets all

Thunder cactus, I mean all due respect when I say that your opinion on this subject is pretty twisted. Everything that has to do with firearms has to do with your sport, every gun related incident effects this hobby in one way or another. Everyone please do your part to promote the hobby and always be respectful to new players, law enforcement and the general public because you never know when this whole thing could get shut down

In the case of using one of our "toys" in a crime and claiming no one was in any "real danger"... well perhaps it is just me, but I cant imagine that getting shot in the face from a meter away with no eyepro at 400fps would be very pleasant at all.

Shooting someone with an airsoft gun in public would be assault, and airsoft guns are firearms for the purposes of the criminal code. So robbing a store/bank would exceed the "in hot water" situation.

Its because of the efforts and responsible husbandry of ASC toward the airsoft community in Canada that Airsoft has grown to include so many new Airsoft enthusiasts as yourself. The Airsoft Hobbyists that have demonstrated responsible use and ownership and set internal policies to help prevent criminal and negligent use of the airsoft guns. Its not the object that's the problem, its the person employing it. We've shown a decade of fantastic benefits and a growing community of positive experiences. Being respectful is bang on, but if things get shut down, I doubt its going to be because of what this community has done. There's not much we can do about idiots with Pellet rifles. Implying that they are a part of this community is counter productive. I hope you can figure that out, with all due respect. Cheers |

suzie soccer mom is not going to differentiate between a responsible real steel owner or a gang banger that just capped her boy.
Just like she won't differentiate between a responsible airsofter vs her boy being a retard when he gets shot by the police. She won't blame her precious boy, she'll blame the object. We live in a society of knee jerk blanket generalizations and classifications. It's impossible for one to say there is a black and white to what other people will do. To assume one or the other 100% is foolish.

These idiots should have the book thrown at them, as behaviour like this reflects poorly on the entire airsoft community. Currently we don't need a firearms license to own or operate airsoft weapons, but if these incidents continue to occur, who's to say the government won't change that? I for one say that for the odd moron that gets caught discharging an airsoft weapon in public like that, there ought to be a zero tolerance policy in effect.

Anyone else think a licence to play own airsoft guns is a good idea? I think a $30 dollar one time fee and a course you have to pass would weed out a ton of dickheads, plus provide a barrier between the sport and hooligans. Thoughts?

It probably be much like the long gun registry, and we all know how that turned out
