The full metal does not apply to the grip which is plastic. The metal is in the cocking tube and the metal upper receiver along with all sorts of bits & bobs. You would use the figure-8 in conjunction with the front sight light/laser mount as previously mentioned (http://www.wgcshop.com/pcart/shopper...Mount%20Rings). Here's the basic gist in bullet form:

- file down figure eight so that you can connect both a light as well as a laser together
- mount light and laser on figure-8
- mount light or laser to the front sight mount
- mount front sight mount to front sight

What you end up with is an over/under config of light/laser to the right side of the front sight and no rails of any type necessary. The only real con of this is that you can't hook up any railed accessories. But this is also a cheap and easy alternative.
