I hope you realize that FPS means nothing at all. A TM shooting stock ~300-330 FPS *CAN* outrange (effective range not total range) other guns that shoot 450 FPS. It's all about air seal/compression, quality bucking and consistency. Hell a TM Mk.23 loaded up with .28's could be considered a DMR in some respects.

How I'd setup my rifle though is ~380-390 FPS ($15 spring and some time out of your day, I like having a good sized buffer before I reach the field limits because chronos can read differently or Wx can affect your FPS, and I also actually understand that limits are just that, limits not goals), IR-hop (or ZIR-hop kit), a Prommy 6.03 TBB, and use .28's there you go, you can now probably outrange (effective range not total range) a lot of kids who think FPS means everything.

The CA SA58 is a really solid gun.

If this is your first gun, then chances are you need to do more reading and just take the plunge and choose one.

If you are worried about being out ranged, all AEG have similar ranges anyways. If you plan on using a high powered DMR as a regular AEG for close range shooting, that won't be smart.

Most people have several rifle anyways, and a pistol sidearm.

Finding a platform is easy. Do you want to snipe, or regular play? Even a CQB gun has good outdoor range.

You are complicating your life trying to find the one perfect gun.

hmm....Im thinking twice about the sa58 and the g3.

Since broseph went for the hk416 and I cant find one perhaps a G&P, KWA or VFC m4 is in order- fits requirements for DMR potential, has ability to do CQB and also longer distances, easy to mount optics....

Unless theres a new VFC 416 in the AV section? might make it worth my while to get that done

I can confirm there are hk416s in the classifieds. If you're looking to get a gun, I'd say go to a game with an AVer, ask if you can hold some guns - some people will even bring a loaner gun for you to play with if you ask in the event posting. Then, you get AVed, and buy a gun through the classifieds. Only problem is AVing takes a while.

A DMR specific rifle has no auto feature. If your opponents use full auto, you will be toast still. Just stay with a standard M4 and magazines will be readily available.

Have you even gone to store and look these guns? You can ask all the questions and get answers and still not know what you want.

G&P is good but I don't recommend it unless you have a background in mechanical systems because right off the bat you're going to need to replace and shim your gears. (My only gripe with G&P, everything else is good). For making such high quality stuff, you'd kind of expect them to not make gears that suck but the teeth can sometimes just shear right off unless you shim and set motor height correctly right out of the box. Or just replace the gearset with a ratio of your choice for what you want (ie. 21:1 torque gears or 13:1 speed gears (or more mild ratios)).

KWA kind of does weird things with their gearbox so that it's TM compatible-ish for a majority of things but at the same time not compatible enough to require serious modification for fitment in some areas and/or weird proprietary parts (which you can order direct from KWA if you phone them up but it's still like $12 shipping or whatever for like $3 worth of parts, unless you order a bunch of stuff at the same time). Their direct dealer shop is good but at the same time I like to avoid proprietary stuff because then they have you by the balls (especially when it comes to software vendors, I typically like open standards more).

VFC is good right out of the box, sometimes (only sometimes) will you get lemons (Monday gun vs Friday gun thing) but QC is good, externals are good (it boils down to personal preference but I like G&P just a tad bit better for externals).

Sure, but I like to surprise people with my p90 that shoots as far as some really nicely set up 'dmr's :P

I personally like the comments from players who have never seen it shoot

'you'll never hit them from here, that's only an smg'

*zap zap*

"hit"

Hmm those m4s seem alright. The continuous top rail for optics is super appealing.

SRC 416 is definitely a contender as well- seeing as I cant find any new VFCs at present.

I hear that the pro version of the gen 3s are decent and I like the idea of having the same gun as my pal. (assuming mags between the SRC and the VFC are compatible)

However the SRCs dont seem to have a crane stock which means a battery in front. hmmm....

It's beyond worth your while to get age verified. Just about anything you ask for will come up for sale in the classified or the retailer sections that you can't see right now.

If you are in deed 18+ get AV'd and all VFC's you want will magically appear. Right they are invisible to you no matter how you beat around with your questions.
