Building a SR25
As you all may aware of, the G&P SR25 is pretty much out of stock anywhere, I've been to 20 online stores, and none of them are selling it anymore. So here is my plan, I'm going to build one myself.
Everything will starts from a G&P body, RIS, 20in barrel, M16 stock and grip. I only need to know what I need for internals. I rarely build any airsoft guns especially AEGs, and in most occasions, I paid someone to help me upgrading/repairing airsoft. I'd be grateful if someone up here can give me a full list of internals I needed for building a SR25. Please don't tell me to get a G&G, A&K or CA's SR25 instead, because I'm looking for some really nice quality SR25. |

Firstly you may want to fill out your profile with info on your location so we can help you out better. I'm sure you may already know but some of the parts that you'll be needing are prohibited in Canada.
Whats your goal for this gun? Such as FPS and such. |

The G&P SR25 uses a boatload of non-standard parts, including a non-standard gearbox, and non-standard piston, cylinder head, nozzle, and gears. In short, you HAVE to buy all G&P parts, or you're simply not building one. Or, you could simply order one from Redwolf, where it's in stock (assuming you're not Canadian): http://www.redwolfairsoft.com/redwol...l?prodID=14182

You can use standard V2 gearboxes, but you would require the non-standard lengthened hop up unit, and lengthened cylinder head and nozzle. I believe you must purchase the entire gun in order to have these, so yes, you need the G&P proprietary long gearbox.
If you want an SR25, wait and find it in stock somewhere. The metal body kit is outrageously priced. And you could just do what I did; buy the G&G one, which is exceptional quality, and get the proper trademarks engraved yourself. Save money, similar product, and it will be more unique. EDIT: read Tys' post below mine! He lays it out well.

You can use a std v2 mechbox...but you need an elongated nozzle, nozzle/hopup spacer and rear stock screw spacer. I couldn't find them, at least the nozzle what freaking impossible to find...I had to get a buddy to machine them for me (cost 4 cases of beer).
Good luck finding a body w/ furniture...and mags... Once you've got those parts...the rest is basically an M4/M16/M-series build... |

Am in the process of just finishing a G&P SR-25 project. Body is the hardest part to obtain. Front set is just as pricey. Don't bother with the std ver2 mechbox. The G&P specific long box fits like a custom made glove. This is a daunting build. But so worth it in the end. There are G&P mags available for this in a midcap capacity.
BTW Tys. I think I still have that long nozzle and rear spacer kicking around in the box from this build. Last edited by B.C.Hawk; April 4th, 2009 at 13:22.. Reason: Forgot some things. |

Thanks guys, I'm sorry I didn't check the thead lately I've been out of town for awhile, but anyway, my problem is resolved, I met a buddy who's willing to sell his SR25 to me.
Oh, but just one more thing, I have noticed the trademarks on G&P's replica suppressor is somewhat different from the real steel SR25 suppressor. On the bottom line It says " Suppressor, US Navy Rifle, 7.62MM MK11 MOD 0" but the real thing doesn't have the "US Navy Rifle" written. But I could be wrong, can anyoone clarify it? |

They've been known to make the trades slightly different.
