Man, i still cant belive that airsofts only JUST on the verge of moving to gas piston assemblies.. They are so rediculously easy to work on and overhaul compared to mechbox's..not to mention durability.
Gas airsoft guns have been around longer than AEG's dude.

alright, i guess thats true after looking it up. Thats why you guys are giving ME advice .

Its such a better system. of course, you have to deal with gas, and the shortfalls of it..but i dont see how the theory of electric is better in anyway. I played paintball before i knew about airsoft, and as much as i hate it now, the firing system is perfect. except external c02 tanks of course...

A mechbox, while a precise machine, isn't really complicated. Most people don't have issues working on them. Just pay attention when you take it apart and you'll be fine. I'll gladly trade the gas piston system with a torpedo off the back of the gun and inconsistent performance due to temperature for the convienince of electric power. It's lighter, cheaper, and I can carry around several batteries. Gas is just "cooler" because you have a cycling bolt.

Yeah, and thats the other side of it also. of course aegs are good, look how long they have been used.. but i cant see it being the "pinnacle" of firing systems. price or performance wise. same with what gas systems are coming in also, they seem impractical for field use. but i admit i dont know alot compared to you guys.

+++and a cycling bolt+ the sound the gas makes are a bonus, but doesnt make a difference when you run out of gas and an aeg is on the other side of the hill.

If im going to be in my mechbox, i'd like to upgrade it for durability. It already shoots 430fps, but if im in there, i want to not worry about it breaking down again for a little while. What parts should i order? im not looking for fps gain.

430? Isn't that a little hot for an AEG?

Yes it is. I ordered mine from A&A when it was still around and when we were all getting our gear from there...and mine shot a little hotter then 440, and has settled at 430. Another person bought the same gun, and its settled at 415. They arent upgraded either, thats just stock.

A stock V2 mechbox running at over 400 fps is not going to survive very long. Even at above 375-ish fps you should really be running a reinforced mechbox shell to prevent breakage. You really should drop an M100/110 spring in that thing.

I can get another jing gong mechbox (350fps) for 50$. does it make more sense to get that and drop it in? then i'd have the other one to upgrade.

any thoughts?

Makes more sense to have a reliable mechbox that won't break mid-game / use. And if you were to replace the mechbox, you should invest in a good quality reinforced mechbox shell that will last, rather than replacing it with another of the same.

Besides, muzzle velocity is not the main factor of a gun. If you game the gun, then you should downgrade it to game-accepted velocities (most fields have a 400 fps limit). Even if you're using it to plink, velocity still isn't everything. My most accurate AEG with the best range is my Real Sword Type 56 that shoots 310 fps.

Yeah, i know about fps and accuracy. the gun is pinpoint (enough), with tightbore, hopup and extended barrel. But im saying, put in a replacment MB for time being, and upgrade my current one? new case spring guide and all?

Jusr drop in a new spring. Why bother spending $150 when $20 will do?

God I hope those revolutions aren't as temperamental as PTWs hate guns that don't shoot when they don't want to.
