Problems with my WA Prokiller mags...

A few weeks back, I bought a WA Prokiller MkII F5 from 808. Worked great with what little propane was in there. Only recently I got a tank of propane and found every time I try to fill it up, all the gas escapes out the other end. I figured maybe repair or parts replacement was needed so I'd leave it for later and get another mag anyways. New mag came in today, same issue when I tried to fill it up with propane, it all gassed out the opposite end. Right, I doubt I got a 2 lemons here. I'm guessing I'm doing something wrong here and google hasn't produced any results other then sales pages. I couldn't find a manual anywhere either, didn't come with 1 or even online.

Any recommendations on where I could find a solution or has anyone run into this problem. I'll be trying other google searches under different wording.

Correct. WA mags are a bit different. When you finally empty the mag, a little plate slides over the valve and keeps it open. You have to release this before you refill.

the mag on the right is has no gas - notice how the back plate is pushing down on the mag valve.

all you need to do is push it down to reset it
it should look like the mag on the left

Question: What's the point of that on WA mags?

I'm not sure what the point is, but I assume it's to preserve the seal on the main valve rubber. I could be wrong though.

My beef though, it seems to waste a fair bit of gas though.

if something seems to be broken stop what youre doing ... saves gas.

That plate also purges the mag under certain conditions... *forgets when*.

Even I occasionally forget to reset the plate so just get into the habit of checking it. You not only waste gas but it makes the mags very cold causing you to have to wait longer for the pressure to get back up.

The plate is how WA opted to ensure that gas is supplied throughout the blowback cycle. TM did it with a locking hammer design instead in the HiCapa. Merely different designs.

Hmmm my mag does the exactly same thing..
How do you reset the mag's valve back plate?
Just pull it down? or pull it down and use screws to keep it at that position?

just pull it down, the valve will pop out again preventing it from moving up

And don't touch the screw, just make sure the valve pops back up after you push the plate down. If it doesn't give it a light tap while holding down the plate.

Hey guys, thx for the tips!
However, when I pull the plate down, the valve doesn't automatically pop out, instead I had to pull it out with my finger tips @.@
I haven't yet to try the mag again with a duster gas, but I'll let you know how mine behaves once I try.

kevinz, try oiling the valve lightly and cycling it in/out several times to work in the lube.

Yup. Had to do this with one of my WA 1911 mags. Took a bit of oil and working the valve in and out, but was fine after that.
