Flash hider nonsense
nonsense i tell you! so on my SPR, this has been haunting me for a while. the flash hider came off, but i cant get the piece between the flash hider and the front sight to come off!! WTF!!! somebody, ANYBODY!! what the hell do i need to do to remove this metal from hell!!! i just want to take off the upper receiver and it is seemingly impossible.

hmmm
usually, it is a piece that goes up to BEHIND the front sight. You have to remove the two cross pins under the front sight to remove it, then remove the setscrews on the barrel to remove that section of the barrel. BUT you don't have to do that to remove the upper receiver... just remove the collar nut (behind the grip, screws on the upper receiver) |

turn it the other way...it's negative threading on one bit and positive threading on the other. Also, there's often a tiny set screw that locks those parts in place...you have to back the screw off before taking those sections off.
but...taking off the flash hider has nothing to do with removing the upper receiver... Maybe you mean to take off the front sight, to then take off the handguard...but that's not the upper receiver. Best of luck...it seems like you're going to need it. |

If I recall correctly, the Dboys SPR has a section that screws onto the main barrel and the big flash hider screws on over top of that.
The flash hider doesn't have a set screw, but the "barrel extension" does. Can't recall clearly...it's been a while since I worked on one and it's late... |

you see the gas tube is attached to the front sight. the front sight is being blocked by the piece behind the flash hider. it said when i obught it that simply twisting off this piece would suffice.... it was not true, or at least you must be Hercules..

Oh I get it.
Yes it is just scrwed on. Probable CCW like the flash hider, so when you tighten the flash hider, it tightens that too. Try heating it in a plastic bag and HOT water. (To protect the barrel.) Worked for me on a G36K with a barrel extension. |

Yeah that thing is like a 2 piece flashider, there is a set screw in there and is CCW.
