KJW MK1 Carbine turned into sidearm
Not intentionally made this weird though, mind you.
I had an MK1 Carbine around for a while that I never used, but I knew I could use an NBB sidearm. So out came the tools (pipecutters mostly) and here was the result. I didn't originally intend to leave the "handgrip" on, but the barrel was JUST long enough and it gives some extra stability, so why not? In the end it turned out looking a little like a space gun. It's not quite what I had in mind, but it works. |

better be careful with your side arm, it shoots 500 fps+

Part of the reason the MK1 carbine shoots hot(*) is the long barrel. The BB accelerates until it exits the muzzle. With the barrel cut down, that's thankfully not the case any more - most of the barrel is now gone.
(* 500fps for the stock version sounds like an awful lot though, you serious about that number? I never did actually measure it myself.) |

Ya, that thing is still going to be shooting way too hot for a side arm. The pistol version shoots around 350-400. Some people have chrono'd the carbine at 600 fps with propane on a good day here in Miami.

Pop that handguard off and put on a can.
Look like a ruger .22 with a silencer. Nam Stee. |

DonP, stock MK1 carbine does have ridicilously high FPS on propaine. I saw one going over 500 on a hot day.

I have one. Gave me 520 with .2
So I cannot use it at all and thinking to turn in to a side arm too. May be even on duster. Last edited by Santa; April 14th, 2008 at 19:52.. |

lol mine fired anywhere between 135 and 560... Strangely enough even on low pressurized gas (Difluoro and Butane) it fired insanely hot.

Well, sounds like I should chrono this shorter barrel version on duster and propane and see what it says. Nothing like a good experiment to clear things up!
