AGM MP007

Howdy y'all,

My brother shipped me an AGM MP007 for Christmas.
After carefully charging and installing the battery, I got off about 3 single shots before the trigger stated to 'click'... like there was some resistance in the trigger that wasn't there before. Now it does nothing when I pull the trigger.

I am an Electronic technician and PC Tech, so I was wondering, are there any manuals that cover this gearbox?

It's a fairly simple design, if your mechanically inclined you should have no problems at all.

A member of this board named Greylocks had a really good idea for first time mechbox openers.

Get one of those really really large Ziplock freezer bags and seperate the two shells of the mechbox in there, That way if any springs go flying, they'll still be in the bag.

Yeah... but that's only the first step, the second step of his idea was to bring the bag to a gun technician.

Yes, in a detoured way. There's a difference between saying you dont like ME as opposed to saying you dont like something I do. I cant discuss that you dont like "me" and we've never met so...
I can discuss if you dont like something specific.

There's a good reason why I suggest meeting an expert first, by the way. I remember the frustration of not having done that years ago. After that, every time I saw a new mechbox type, I would watch as someoe else would work on it. That's the way to learn.

Even if you're mechanically adept, working on a mechbox for the first time is a real pain in the ass.

Seeing as your an Electronic technician your 100% sure its not the battery right? Because it sounds to me like a battery problem. The charger that comes with that gun is a total POS and needs to thrown in the garbage when you purchase the gun.

Having a chance to re-read your replies, I must correct my observations and my typo, I meant to say that I got off 30 shots, single action.

I had, at around shot #15, tried a multiple burst of about 3 shots. Very impressive as were the single shots.

It was very accurate at 30 feet as I pinged off a 2 inch plastic toy off a shelf, and the plastic pellets would go through a double layer of corrugated cardboard at about 20 feet.

So, accuracy and performance were not an issue.

It was around the 30th shot that the trigger had some resistance to it and would ‘click’ when pulled. I pulled it maybe 3 or four times before I took the gun apart, tried recharging the battery, tried in multiple burst and single shot mode, and the trigger freed up, but it no longer functions at all. When you now pull the trigger, no click but nothing else happens either.

I have had a chance to research the Internet read up on this model and there is some discrepancy as to what gearset this has, most agree that it some form or modified form of model 3 or type 3

It sounds like I need to take it apart and check for the obvious items that you have described, (voltages etc.) as my brother has a few Airsoft guns, and I am the technical one in the family and would end up doing what ever repairs are within my means.

Which Airsoft repair DVD would you recommend for this particular model and are they available in Canada?

It looks like Volume one has a good tear down section and Volume two has the Hop-up section that this MP007 has, so look like good contenders.

Howdy all y'alls,

First off, I want to thank everybody for their contributions, and didn't mean to start a flame war...

As it turns out, Slick got it right. In fact, he nailed it.

I checked the battery with my DVM and it registered 4.5 VDC.
The charger displayed a whopping .5 VDC output, so was kaput, DOA.

I rummaged through my box-o-stuff and found an exact match for the charger, so cut off the leads and soldered them on to the new one, and voila, problem solved as the MP007 is now back in action.

The battery is a 7 cell, so is an 8.4 VDC @ 1200mah Nimh.
The charger that came with the unit is rated at 9VDC, 300ma, which would provide a charging time of 4 hours. I have a 500ma 9VDC charger that will cut the charge time down to 2.4 hours.

BTW, there are no Age Verification reps in Collingwood, but have contacted a regional rep in Barrie for the ASC conformity.
