I know some of the SAS were issued the walther P5. No airsoft company makes it though, infact there were only around 3000 made however it is an outstanding pistol from what i here.

why the fuck are you resurecting a long dead thread with useless information this was discussed long ago. thread reasurection is geting rediculas around here

Aren't you allowed to get your own side-arm? I was talking to a corporal , and he said if you want a side-arm, you can buy one...aslong as it's the same caliber as what's issued...I'll have to look into that...:S

Yes they do they make .45 hand guns... Very expensive hand guns. The Canadian military could not afford to buy large quantites of them. Plus the .45 round is a much more expensive round to produce. That is one reason the US military switched to 9mm. However i heard rumours that they might be switching back to .45.

Sorry in advance if ressurecting old threads is unwelcome here but as I'm British and able to answer I thought I would. :P

The standard issue firearm is still the Browning L9A1 9mm, a variant of the Browning Hi-Power.

The L105A1, the designation for the Sig-Sauer P226, is a limited issue firearm supplied to some units (SAS etc) until it or another a suitable replacement is found for the Browning.

The P228 is also issued in limited numbers. I've not seen any airsoft models of the P228 but it's essentially a compact P226 and therefore similar to the P229, for which there are models available.
