VSR-10 Upgrade Advice - Zero-Trigger or Not?

They have a longer BB follower that will block the bolt when the mag is empty. No more dry fire at the worst possible time, you always know when your mag is empty.

hey guys, just resurrecting this thread for an update.

I've gone with the Modify Tan hopup bucking, in the Action Army Hop up chamber. Did teflon tape and floss to seal the bucking for air seal around rubber.

Testing using 0.28g and 0.4g BBs, I've found that for 0.28g, Im getting good range and lift, but for 0.4g, the bucking seems to be struggling to get range and lift in contract to the 0.28g. Just want to confirm if this rubber is not meant for 0.4g BBs before i do anything else at the moment.

I would try with a different nub on the hop-up lever arm first. A harder or larger nub could help push harder on the BB.

If you're increasing hop and the BB isn't going any further, then you need a softer rubber

Use something a little lighter, like 0.36g

I've found 0.40g to be too heavy even for my Dangerwerx hop lever and super hard rubber.

Just to make sure my understanding is clear.

In general,
Hard rubber is better for lower weight BB?
Soft rubber is better for heavy weight BB?

Actually, hard rubbers are more durable, soft rubbers hop better but don't last as long.

I too am about to start upgrading my vsr. I've read through all of these post and I'm baffled and confused. So many different parts with so many different manufacturers, it's hard to decide.

So I'm gutting all the internals out. What do I get as a total package to shoot on average 450 fps with .2's. I know I will be using .36 to .46 bb's. I know that I will replace the barrel with 6.03. That's about all!

Good options are all Laylax, all PDI or all EDGi. You will have a much easier time if you stick to a single manufacturer. Laylax is more silent, PDI is a bit more durable and EDGi is in in between noise levels. If you'd like a stiffer trigger, get the PDI V-Trigger, its overall a better trigger unit and it has replacement parts available. The Laylax zero trigger has a lighter pull but its a bit smoochy. The EDGi kit uses the regular Marui trigger unit with stronger sears, so the trigger pull will be similar to stock.

Great Advice! Thank you! It's frustrating trying to get parts. Seems everywhere I look most VSR parts are sold out. How do you know what degree of bucking you need?

Lowest degree is best to hop heavy BBs, but they don't last as long. With that said, you don't fire a whole lot of BBs with a bolt action rifle, so even a soft rubber will last a few seasons.
