Deadpool, I know they switched to a molle like system, I never said it was a up to date. This is more a late 1990,s impression. They still use this gear in airports and in city streets for the internal troops.
I got the same stick about white flags at the game, but nothing malicious, just gentle ribbing. As I pointed out to some fellow players at the time The French Empire under Napoleon ruled all of Europe from Moscow to Madrid (and ruled it for longer and more effectively than that arsehole Hitler)! Thanks for the great feedback guys!

Hi beastor,
Your gear is quite great, but nowadays French dotation is changing slowly. For instance the usual ranger boots are disappearing on the battlefield to be replaced by more modern ones, such as the ones you have. Also a new BDU is used on the battlefield, it's the Guerilla CCE, not the old F2. For the "gilet" depending on the units you can replace it by a CIRAS land version in tan colour, fitted with OD green pouches. What I describe you is the way French soldiers now are geared in Afghanistan, but your work is awesome ! |

Thanks Crevette!
I must admit I went with the older gear because it was easier to get hold of (and cheaper) I would LOVE to get a set of the new equipment. I saw some soldiers at Toulouse airport wearing pretty much the same gear as I am wearing in the photos in Febuary when I was working in France (there was a military surplus store down the road from where I worked in Tarbes), would they be some sort of internal Army/reserve/militia? I wouldn't mind getting hold of a FAMAS rail system too....

butthurt for not having a user title

This is a great big Necro post, but I'm wondering if anyone knows where I can get a hold of CCE. Googling hasn't helped much, and I'd prefer buying in Canada (even good 'ol flecktarn.co.uk only seems to have trousers that'll fit me).
Reason being, I somewhat accidentally got my hands on a late 90s 'Paul Boye' flak vest, I need some new woodland BDUs, so I figure I may as well go all the way. Slowly. |
