G&G M418 Black/Light MAX - Need some information
Hello, bonjour,
I know I am not age verified, I am working on that. Made this account yesterday. I am looking to move from paintball to airsoft and I want to buy a decent AEG. I want it to be "good" out of the box. Don't want to bother and upgrade it a lot. So, I found this G&G M418 on buyairsoft.ca : https://www.buyairsoft.ca/deals/sale...black-max.html Shorter version : https://www.buyairsoft.ca/deals/sale...light-max.html To me, it seems like a good deal. Downgrade spring included (M100). Battery and charger included. Full metal. Has all the "MAX" feats. Look awesome ! The thing is, I did not found much information about this exact model, so I need your help ! From the information I found the "MAX" is only found in Canada. It's mostly and upgraded version to be able to shoot at the "legal" fps. I guess that a good thing even if I want to downgrade. In the "specs" it says that this gun have blowback. Anyone know if this is EBB or the PBB ? I was told that it is harder to downgrade the spring if you have a PBB system. I that true ? Anyone owns/owned this gun and can give me some feedback ? Thanks guys and see you on the fields ! (I am french, I know my english is not perfect) |

It's a great choice. Just don't buy it there.
It's a Pneumatic Blowback. It's more complicated to downgrade because you need to disassemble the PBB but it's not really that much more complicated. You should go to a good gun doctor for the downgrade anyway. More info on guay2.com and all over the internet. The model is G&G TR4-18 aka the G&G HK416.

vfc 416 would be a better choice imo. it's cheaper in price, better quality imo but no pneumatic blowback which can be good for maintenance, but less coolness factor.

They have the PBB system, it does however greatly weaken the mechbox as it takes away a vast majority of the reinforcement of the mechbox. If you do get one, I would highly recommend downgrading the spring before using it extensivly to prevent cracking the mechbox.

Quote:
G&G's pneumatic blowback is implemented via a blowhole on top of the cylinder where virtually no stress or impact is experienced. In addition, the cylinder windows on G&G mechboxes are radiused, and G&G's mechboxes are actually made of rather nice metal.

a.k.a. HKpro

+1 get a VFC HK416 instead. It's similarly priced and has far better quality externals. And it shouldn't require the gearbox to be opened up off the bat, unlike the G&G which is shooting too out of the box.

Yeah, I used to work on them all the time right after the PBB MAX series came out, at least 3/4 were broken mechboxes. The weakness of the V-2 mechbox is well known to break at the front of the box, reinforced mechboxes have reinforcement at the top along the spine of the mechbox (spline removed for PBB system significantly reducing strength) and the lower near the front screw.

The rebranded "max" series shoots too hot. The Toptech line which I sell (the same thing except not with a ridiculous spring) shoots at a normal FPS.
