Vfc m4 quake upgrade?

Hey there just bought a new vfc m4 quake. Im looking to upgrade internals. Ive heard there was an issue with the piston, piston head slapping and cracking the gear box after a fair bit of usage. Can anyone help me out and elaborate on a way to prevent this from happening? For example what kind of parts i should replace even info on brands would be great to hear. Thanks.

P.S This gun is pretty much new out of the box. Its sights haven't been lined up on any player yet :P.

Sorbo pad on cylinder head will reduce impact, and swap spring if it's shootin too hot. Stock piston head is great, maybe just a new o ring. The stock piston is good, but will most likely strip eventually, so swap that out too if you want

vfc's are pretty good out of the box; suggest you run it stock until something breaks.

Why do people want to upgrade things the first thing they do? A spring change is really all you need, don't touch anything else. Preventative maintenance is one thing, but upgrading for the sake of upgrading is a bad idea. Now granted I am a tinkerer at heart (but I'm also mechanically inclined and probably could have been a MechE or something).

Upgrading just means you're introducing unreliability into your system.... It's like cars, you can't really upgrade without losing reliability.

wouldnt the sorbo pad affect the range and fps of the projectile if its absorbing more impact? or is it something that's unavoidable if i dont want my gear box to break :/

L473ncy: You do have a good point. I guess im just more overcautious about some of the parts not being as reliable or long lasting as the other parts. I mean every part isnt made to last forever right? my biggest concern is one part breaking the whole part. haha
