Open tansport

Hello, new member (obviously).

I was wondering about the legality of carrying an SKS openly (unloaded) on my way to Crown Land. As far as I can tell, transport regulations only say it has to be unloaded, not hidden.

But I can envision police becoming involved anyways.

Can anybody tell me if it's legal or not?

Please refer to Canada Firearm Center (operate by RCMP) for the legal information to transport controlled firearm in public. AFAIK, it is legal. However, unless you want to pick a fight with police avoid it.

This is a question better asked on CGN (canadian gun nutz) than on an airsoft forum.

I would imagine that open carry in Canada would be illegal. I don't want to be quoted on that as I don't know for sure.

Firearms must be secured when transporting between shooting locations. If you're transporting between home and Crown land, it should be (at a minimum) in a gun case or gun bag. For real steel, a gun case/bag and one level of lock (either the case or a trigger lock).

Open carry between destinations has a very high chance of the police receiving a gun call. Try putting yourself in the shoes of Joe Public - if you saw someone walking around with a gun in the open (loaded or not - not like Mr. Public can usually tell), what would YOU do...?

Respect it as if it were a real firearm.

So are you trolling or are you just one of those nitwits that likes to try and test the Letter of the Law in case there's some tiny loophole that would allow you to get away with something, thereby giving you the impression your otherwise boring and insignificant life is oh-so-much-more important?

If you're talking about the airsoft SKS, pull your head out of your ass, start reading around the forum and realize we have enough trouble keeping airsoft legal and off politicians' and soccer moms' radars without having idiots rocking the boat for the sake of it.

And if you're talking about a real SKS, take it to CGN; this is an airsoft forum.
