Hey guys...I just bought a CA AUG a1, almost brand new. supposed to be 400 rounds through, with only a 120 spring upgrade... Seeing as this threads at the top right now, i'll ask two questions here.

Should I replace anything right off the hop being a CA? And was it worth the 500$ with 8 mags and the battery?

I'll post some thoughts back once i've gotten it dirty

Don't replace anything unless it's broken, and yes, it was worth what you paid for it.

Indeed. You get a rifle-length barrel in a carbine-sized package. It's the advantage of bullpups.

Alright, so I've been looking at some web sites that some of the ASC retailers use for custom ordering, and It says that the externals on the CA AUG are made from ABS. I Thought TM used ABS and CA used FRP, or is it just a mistake? Also I take it that the ASC retailers are the only way to get a brand new AUG?

The aug is special, and i've personally held a TM, CA, and JG, all 3 are ABS but are solid.
you will have to do a custom order from a retailer, but make sure that the retailer is able to order in that certain product. I tried one of them and turns out he is unable to get the aug at the moment. .also expect 2-3X the price increase of the website they order from

I still say you should start with something a little more common and readily available... like, and M4 for example

I'll have to get an A2 then, since all the A1 are sold out. I like the 1.5x optic sight that is intergraded with the A1. The A2 doesn't have this, and I've looked in a lot of places to find it, but does anyone know where I can get the A2 optic sight for the AUG like the one in the pictures.

I've heard that the CA AUG's gearbox is a lot harder to remove than the TM AUG's (where you just remove the two screws holding the plate and out pops the gearbox). Does anyone know if the CA's gearbox is actually harder to remove? And can you do the battery mod on the CA?

no it's the same-
it becomes so much easier when you remove some of the side lip that supports the inner plate with a dremel. Then the mechbox comes out just by pinching it with pliers and pulling it out.
it's attached to the ejector port cover system so be careful when pulling - keep it aligned.

510mm by default. You can put in a 590mm if you get a longer barrel or a silencer.
