hop up unit

so i get what the hop up unit does and how it works

i already intend to order myself a guarder clear set and a shredders concave spacer for my G&G MP5 off of airsoftparts.ca, i figure for the small price its a great upgrade

but i was wondering what about the actual hop up unit?? i see them for sale, but am unsure of what possible advantage or what it could do for you?? is there any advantage/difference between different hop up units?? or possibly differences between the metal and plastic hop up units??

besides the obvious of it being a replacement part if something breaks or gets lost, i dont get why you would replace a stock hop up unit....any ideas??

some chambers provide better airseal resulting in better more consistent fps.

Re: hop up unit

If you get a madbull tight bore barrel, stick with the madbull rubber. The clears will eventually tear. Though the clears performed well when they worked, the headaches of those on field jams suck.

better air seal?? is there no way to upgrade/modify a stock hop up unit to get better air seal?? the only way i see air escaping would be through the feeding tube where the bb's come through, but you couldnt in any way modify or change that as then the bb's wouldnt feed properly.

the clears are quite soft and taht is part of the benefit and allows them to work better, i get taht they could rip easier bcuz of the softer material, but why would taht jam or what kind of problems would this cause other than not getting the proper backspin on the bb?? unless maybe if the rubber rips and then is dangling in the barrel, would taht cause the jam?

i dont plan on havin my gun go anything above 400 fps once i do upgrade it, so i figured the clear would still be good, as i have read ppl using them in guns that shoot just under 400, am i misinformed and should be looking into a different hop up rubber???

no. the use of the clears with a madbull tight bore barrel will cause jams from an eventual tear. the mb tbb outer diameter is smaller which allows the clear to move too much causing it to pull away and tear eventually. they work fine and seal great but will tear. had it happen in two different guns that had the mb tbb installed. both were shooting sub 350fps

oh alrite, thnx for the tip, if i go with a MB TBB ill be sure to stay away from the clear.

although right now i still have no clue what barrel ill be grabbing cuz i dont know what length i need, first need to get a silencer then measure out what barrel length i want, as i do want the barrel to be longer than the stock one and extend into the silencer
