GHK WA Mags into Magpul P-Mags
Need some help for this, I just got my 3 pmags today (gonna keep atleast 1 for pictures) From the looks my P-Mags was modified by a screw (non-removal from what I see) in the rear of the magazine. I try to remove the follower and the spring thru the bottom of the mag It cant be done due to the modification, Im wondering how can I remove the magazine spring and the follower?
Rules: Keep the mag shell intact, I don't care about follower, if I can get it out its good, (1 or 1000 pieces doesn't matter) Links to pictures of P-Mag and GHK Mags 56k beware! Part One complete, Removal of rivets and feeding lips CurrentlyPart Two INCOMPLETE, sanding of the inner P-Mags Part Three INCOMPLETE, cutting at the rear of P-Mags and fitting GHK inner assembly into the P-Mags Last edited by kullwarrior; August 2nd, 2009 at 00:44.. The "screw" is a rivet used to pin the mag to 5 rounds as per Law.
It must be drilled out before you can proceed. But be careful, if you remove the rivet and do not sufficiently modify the mags so that they can never again hold real rounds, you would be in possession of a prohibited magazine. In other words, if the you can easily (the standard is with no tools) remove the guts of the mag and the rivet is not present, and insert the spring and follower (also no tools required for PMag) = big no-no.

I fully understand that if I remove it and its still possible to chamber center-fire it is illegal. What I don't undestand is how to remove it. I tried to pull the spring as far out as I can (don't really care about the spring) and right now the only thing that seems logical is drilling thru and destroy the follower part which connects to the spring, then cut the spring above the rivet and the ones below should come free. Ill probably destroy the follower to the point where it will jump out if you insert the follower with the spring below (using repair kit, even though I never seen it for P-Mags) Also I have to sand the guides within the shells. Im just not sure at which point my converted device is not a prohibited item. I know there's some Canadians purchased Jdizzle's PTW P-Mags, and they went thru customs fine. |

Drill out the rivet.
If you remove or grind down the feed lips, it is no longer a functional magazine as it will no longer hold rounds.

what do you mean by drill out? I don't want to expand the hole already. It looks fugly as is I don't want to make it more noticable. are you saying to tap out?

People who have successfully imported PMag shells from Jdizzle made it through because the PTW mag internals were already installed! You might run a greater risk of seizure/confiscation if you bring back just an empty mod PMag shell!!!

If you can't do that, learn to live with it, or write your MP to petition Parliament to revoke mag restriction laws. Basically, you have little real choice here.

woot got it done, finally it fits into my woc. Part 1 complete. part 2...sanding the inner part of the shell. just for your info. Like the sterotypical engineer/science geek family we don't have alot of tools. All I did for the mod is a drill bits, sand papers, (wish I have a belt one, saves alot of time) and an x-acto knife. Had alot of four letter words while fitting it in.
Ill upload the picture shortly afterwards |

How do you like the GHK mags for performance/reliability?
I'd love to do a few PMag conversions for my gbb M4's but I've heard a lot of negatives about these mags!

Picture of Part one Complete (rivet & feed lips) Quote:
*Needs breakin both the seals and the outer shells *It WILL leak when you first use it. dry fire 200 rounds through (on semi or 2-3 burst and having 1.5-2 sec interval) and it will be good *flood the gas insert valve and the release valve with silicon oil leave it over night and it will be good *on semi (DMR shooting style) it can shoot about 45 bbs *on full auto (bursting 2-5) it can shoot about 30 bbs *the mag shell is tight, as it ever wanting to do pull up with your GBB? now you can even with the mag release button depress it is tight. (why Im doing pmags conversion) In my opinion it is a good mag, but remember Im a person supporting innovation, I DO NOT support imitation especially those china ones like AGM, 5KU, Bomber. The main push for the conversion using GHK is because the fill valve location. It is near the top. You can pretty much know where you need to drill. As for WA design, good luck firing it blind, if you mess up you're gonna have one fugly magazine, or have a $35-80 dollar paperweight (dunno mac said pmags at one point was 80$, I got mine cheaper) Last edited by kullwarrior; July 28th, 2009 at 03:30.. |
