GHK Drop in AK gas kit into LCT or CA?

Just wondering if anybody out there knows whether or not you can drop the GHK Drop In gas kit for Dboys series AKs into an LCT or CA steel receiver as well. Anybody know?

I know the Dboys guns that GHK uses for the gas AK systems are a direct copy of the VFC design. And I know that the LCT and CA steel receivers are similar, but I'm just not sure how similar.

If anybody has any experience with any of the receiver manufacturers and the GHK drop in AK gas kit please let me know.

Here's the kit I'm referring to.

Ebaybanned claims it fits all Dboys steel bodied AKs...I wonder if that's true too.

Thanks for any info you can give me

Yes it is possible to fit this kit into an LCT receiver, however be prepared for quite a bit of modification to get it to work. Redwolf has posted videos on youtube of a working LCT GBB AK, but no info on the req'd mods.

I'm currently in the middle of the necessary work w/ an LCT RPK receiver, and it's been a PITA so far. Little things like the fact that the pin holes for the selector switch don't match up mean that you need to weld one up, machine/grind the receiver flat again and then redrill a new hole - that's just one example.

I cannot speak regarding the CA receiver, but I do have a CA SLR 105 and based on what I can see I don't see it working as a drop in conversion.

Actually I have to disagree, the EB kit is all steel, so you don't have to worry about your internals breaking. Of course a RA TECH bolt+carrier is req'd, I agree those parts don't pass muster. Compared to the GHK kit and buying Daytona gun replacement parts it's much cheaper.

the EB kit comes with all required to work, but the nozzle and bolt apparently are shit.

might as well buy the full ratech kit.

I have both the clone and the GHK which RATech distributes and I can't say much positive for the GHK kit as the bolt is crap, alloy is too soft and the bolt carrier is beyond crap.

Main problem lies in GHK's selection in material, as most of the kit's plastic will prematurely fail, being less than skirmishable without RATech upgrades.

Two problems with the stock first generation GHK hop-up.

1. The extension which presses against the mag to allow BBs to flow will fail.

2. In addition to that, the thin little 1mm x 1mm piece of brittle plastic, which is the only thing holding the hop-up securely to the receiver will also snap off.

Now, the bolt carrier group... where to begin

If your BCG isn't seated correctly against the receiver and the trunnion, meaning that maybe the receiver or trunnion is offset by, say 1/2 a millimeter relative to the bolt or BC, it results in your plastic bolt taking most of the impact upon BCG returning to battery. The bolt usually fails at the pin where the bolt head and piston is held together.

The BC itself has some significant problems, the first being the how easy the two front tips by the charging handle are subject to fail so easily. This is just poor design.

The rear of the BC may also be a weak spot, seeing how after a couple hundred rounds, there is a noticeable recess of approximately one millimeter at the rear where the hammer strikes. Your BC is basically the gas cylinder, so say goodbye to blow-back if this wall fails.

With steel of the China clone you really don't have the problem with the breaking.

The mag, hammer, trigger assembly is absolute gorgeous tho. (On the China clone)

Thanks for the info on the GHK AKs. I'm also glad to know that that kit from Ebaybanned isn't the crappy GHK, but a full metal copy of the RA-Tech one.

I'm not sure I have enough know-how to make the kit fit anything, so I guess I'll just stick to modding Dboys AKs.

Thanks for the info guys.
