G&G sportline clarification

I was hoping someone could shed some light on this for me. Whats the difference between this G&G AK 47 Rec on buyairsoft canada http://buyairsoft.ca/catalog/product...roducts_id=460 and http://www.007airsoft.com/products/htm/aeg-gg-ak.htm
My understanding is there both the sportline, but the one from 007 is about 40 more and has a plastic upper receiver. I've had a chance to use one from buyairsoftCanada. First thing I noticed is that the full construction was metal (except the smoked lower receiver) overall it felt solid and was a joy to shoot. I'm considering buying one myself, but Im open on which retailer to get it from.BTW the combat machine I shot, my buddie got shipped the rec black by accident. As usual buyairsoft canada screwed up but besides the grips i think the two are the same.

It doesn't seem like theres any difference however if you buy from Ken (007) he is an awesome guy and is active on the forums here.

Buyairsoft kind of has a shoddy rep however they're under new management (got picked up by CAS (Canadian Airsoft Supply) as of Mar/Apr 09) so I don't know however from what I understand nothing has really changed in terms of the new management "fixing things".

It's really your choice, if you're in Nanaimo I believe your local club is CIA (Central Island Airsoft) so you should think about contacting them and getting verified and access to the classifieds (where you have a bigger selection of guns).

Yeah, I've already contacted CIA airsoft. Im supposed to work things out on thier fourm, but for some reason I keep getting the server not found error. That and Rick is inactive, someone from Vic is going to have to verify me. Back to what I was trying to clarify, The one from buyairsoft canada has alot of metal parts for cheaper than the one from 007 which has more plastic(ie. upper receiver) and costs more?

No I'm pretty sure they're the same version and everything.

Before like a year ago there were the "CAS" version guns and the "Regular G&G".

CAS versions were built with a hybrid between Combat Machine and G&G Parts (to keep costs down). Combat Machine for the record is G&G's "cheaper" brand whereas the G&G guns were the regular G&G line (like the difference between toyota and lexus). That is all you have to worry about. There is another version that is a bit more high end than the regular G&G however G&G have refused to make a cansoft version because they don't want to dilute their brand name ("G&G Top Tech").

Since CAS now has an exclusive distributor license with G&G they have the "rec" and "advanced" lines they are pretty much the same thing as before the rec is the CAS version and Advanced is the regular G&G line.

Also the buyairsoft gun just says mostly metal, it doesn't state the upper is or isn't metal or plastic. 007 on the other hand state the upper is plastic.

It would seem you're getting the same gun so it's really your choice of who to buy from. I mean with Ken he was one of the first innovators (he negotiated to get G&G to make guns with clear lowers) and the oldest retailer in Canada.

Buyairsoft has a shoddy rep and is a relatively new kid on the block.

Again in the end it's your choice. They're both legitimate retailers and you will get your product.

I'm not sure I've worded things rite, but basically I know for a fact the buyairsoft canada has a metal upper receiver. Where as the 007 clearly states it has a plastic upper receiver. All Im wondering is why is the price more for a gun with more plastic. From what I've noticed usually your paying for the metal. Not the other way around? Sorry to keep dragging this one on but its been on my mind.

I believe 007 factors in taxes into prices as well, however I cannot explain the price difference between the two. I suppose it boils down to the simplest of explanations, people can charge what they want.

After reviewing buy airsofts add I didnt see anywhere on the page where it said the upper was metal. I noted that it was stated that the gun was "mostly metal" but nothing about anything that said what the upper was made of.

Ive seen the buyairsoft canada AK in person. I know its a metal upper receiver ,which surprised me. I assumed the construction was going to be mostly plastic. All things aside Im leaning towards 007 airsoft just for that piece of mind in customer service and support. Not only did buyairsoft ship my buddie the wrong model. After 2 days of use it went none responsive mid shot, after many tigger pulls it came back to life. Every once in a while it will do that thought... Long story short hes sending it back and thats the end of that problem were hoping it was just a lemon with a poor connection.

Yes buyairsoft just sucks.
AK's always have a metal upper, even my crappy broken Firepower A47 does.
I dont think it was a lemon, I'd blame it on Buyairsoft.

hey smarty pants, metal upper receiver on an ak refers to the rear sight block assembly aka the front end, not the top cover

Wow... I never knew that I thought the upper on an AK was synonymous with the cover. I guess you learn something new every day.
