Building a new M4 front end, need a little information

Mmm'k, so, its a long story, but i fell face-first on my rifle last night.

I wanted to build a RIS front end anyways, to make the best of this situation.

So, i need:

Outer barrel
RIS unit
Delta Ring
End cap
Front sight

Is that it? Is there anything I'm missing? sorry if this is common knowledge, but im new to Armalites.

You need: Replacement gun.
I guarantee, buying that list of stuff will do two things: cost just as much, and not go smoothly.
To side-step this, is to defy the Gods of AirSoft!

Sometimes, you just learn a hard lesson.

Most good-qual AR's can take a faceplant or two. If your face is tougher than that gun, it may not be worth saving!

Or you can just buy a complete front-end set from say, G&P.

How much did the broken gun cost new?
And is that frontend going to go on without battery and fit issues?

I'd rather have a spiff new gun, lots of spares from the first one, and a good experience under my belt.

I have seen SO many mid-qual guns with ill-fitting high-end doodads, left behind due to frustration. But we all go through this phase of airsoft.

It's like a rite of passage: "I spent a MINT on a mediocre item, making it almost as good as a stock ChiCom."

With Canadian Laws and prices, its cheaper getting parts and converting an existing gun if it's a black receiver. Even some of the halfbreed guns are pretty pricey here.

@OP: What you need depends on the RIS/RAS you're getting. Free floating RAS handguards usually come with their own collar or mounting system, so you don't need a delta ring nor the front cap. The CASV-EL handguards mount on a standard delta ring but don't require the front cap. Standard RIS, M5, RAS II, etc require both the delta ring and end cap.

Front sight or gas block (depending on the length of the rail and barrel), gas tube if you want it to look authentic, outer barrel, flash hider.

If you had a regular M4 (front wired) your battery may not fit in the new RIS handguard; you need to re-wire to the rear or make sure your wiring is long enough to reach your external battery case (AN/PEQ).

Thanks drake,

Yea, i already talked to huang, everything i need is in a box from him somewhere in the mail now

Also, its wired to a crane stock, so no worries about that

@ killbucket:

Drake pretty much hit the nail on the head, guns are considerable more expensive in canada then the states, so replacing parts that are import legal makes more sense.

Also, I am very fond of my gun, and have put many hundreds of dollars into internals for it.

THanks guys
