What about an aimpoint T-1. How would that look on an AKS-74U?

Unless you are going for the Pollack mini Beryl look, it won't look right on an AKSU.

Besides, the AKS-74U is one of the most hated guns in Russia's army, soldier's give it the nickname of 'little bitch' in Russian. I haven't actually shot one (Only gun I have ever shot was a Maadi folder in Egypt) but because the gun is just a chopped up AK-74, and is not desirable to fire by soldiers, you can see why it's not a gun to accessorize.

The main unit in which the AKS-74U is still in use is in OMON (And some others, but mainly for OMON) , but even then, you can see AKS-74U's with soviet wood, polymer, or sometimes a Kobra, it all depends on the situation.

The 7.62x39 AK still reigns supreme amongst Russian servicemen and women.

Conscript is right, people who can afford and use Western made optics on Russian weapons (eg. special forces) won't use AKSU for their job.

Btw, ASKU is called "suchka - little bitch" or "ksusha - Russian female name" because both words in Russian sound similar to AKSU, not because it's a bad gun. It's a lot louder than full sized AK, but within SMG range it's not that bad of a gun. AKSU was developed for vehicle/aircraft crews, not for regular military use. It's still used by regular cops back home with more 9mm SMG's taking up SU's role. OMON units on the other hand don't use AKSU for the most part, I've seen them patrolling the streets with SU's couple of times but if something serious was going on OMON would show up with full sized AK's.

For the main part though, OMON uses the AKSU atleast in all of the pictures and video's I have seen. Before SOBR disbanded, those guys were the real brawns of the interior forces, and it would be them armed with AK74's and even AS VAL's, hell, theres a ton of videos showing OMON units with soviet Makarovs and Stetchkins still in use, but it all depends on where you go, different parts of Russia are differently equipped, maybe I have only seen videos of small house raids and exercises where the AKSU was used.

Tank and aircraft crews can't bitch because the AKSU is the only gun they are given , but I thought other forces are hesitant to use the AKSU because of its lack of stopping power and its inaccurate range, 9mm MP5's and Vityaz AK's provide more stopping power because they are in 9mm as you said.

OMON's main weaponry consists of batons, shields and tear gas since they are riot police and are hated by majority of population for that role They only carry serious weapons during tours and high risk raids. An old friend of mine serves in OMON. I was curious about use AKSU in real life after seeing that a lot of people prefer SU for their impressions. He told me that they have SU's but nobody really uses it anymore. At least in Moscow they don't. Sergey, that's the guy's name gets regular PM for city duty and had VSS during his tour. There are a lot of good weapons were developed in the last few years, especially large number of handguns but there is one problem, not enough money to rearm armed forces and police.

P.S SOBR was disbanded only on paper, it's called OMSN now. Same thing just different name. They still beat the hell out of anything that moves
