Can't get front sight off!!!!
Hello all.
I can't release the pins in my ICS 41A1 front sight! Their not screws, just little round pipe like thing that holds the darn thing together!... Any help? |

Take an Allen key, nail set or some other tool that is a bit narrower in diameter, and tap it out with a hammer. Also try to punch it out from the other side. Some pins have a textured end the help hold them in place. Remember to support the barrel and place if firmly on a hard surface.

The thing is, the center is hollow, so if I stick something in the center, and hammer it, the tub would only get bigger!...

Exactly, they are rolled steel pins. What you need to do is as coachster said above, your best bet it to find an allen key that has a diameter less than the hole but great than the internal diameter of the hollow pin, and use that to tap the pins out.
Or, go and invest in a good set of punches. Either way, I would only remove the front sight if you have to, ie you are replacing it. Also be sure to support the entire barrel and the front sight, so it doesn't try to rotate as your are tapping the pins out. |
