I've had the same issues, unless you ordered the wrong size bushings they should fit.
For myself I placed the bushing over the hole of the box, took either a philips screwdriver(thats the 'X') or a screw pick. Place the head inside the hole of the bushing and hammered it in. Not too hard obviously as you don't want to damage anything, but they all went in after some persuasion.
