I tried with just the goggles' lens held by the pads, it works, but leaves enough space on the side of my face to allow bbs to come in, so I'll be going with full goggles underneath the mask.
I have installed the pads and I must say I'm not done with moving them around to get a better result...
the straps and metalworks are chinese crap, but it looks tough enough for the job.
I predict a change of straps or some maintenance required on them after six months max.
