I think these were the result of contamination of the holster and lock mechanism with sand or whatever. This is not likely to occur at an indoor gun range when the holster is transported and used in a relatively clean environment.
They would not let me use my Drop Zone holster when I went to do some shooting and had to use a Safariland for the reasons I stated above.
I don't believe the SERPA is the best there is, but for airsoft and for a $40 retail holster, it's definately the shit.
