Its better to leave some gas in them I can say that for certain. How you may ask? Well I used to have an M11, and during one fall game we had at night one of the mags I had fell out of my vest full of BBs and gas. Unfortunately we were not able to find the mag, and winter came along. The mag sat there on the ground through a whole Manitoba winter covered in snow, then through the spring sitting in water. During the summer when it was all dry again the mag was found, the mag still had gas and bbs in it. The mag was slightly corroded on the outside, the spring that pushes the bbs was corroded really badly. But the gas was fine still full in the mag. After we released the gas and cleaned off the mag of rust, also fixed the spring by pulling it out and cleaning it off. The mag was returned to working status, nothing was replaced, and it still holds gas fine no leaks.
