I should have specified that my comment referred to Canadian fields. I have tested my radios (4W) out to just past 4KM in dense forest, which is very close to the average of 5KM propagation limit for LOS at 2 meters elevation.
That should be more than enough for any airsoft field in Canada.
If you feel the need to go further, set up a mast at each end.
Further still? Get your cell phone out. Can't do much else without an Amateur Radio licence and a free channel.

Using the 4W radios where we are only supposed to use 0.5W and 2W is starting to get noticed, using even more power will definitely start to turn some heads at IC, especially when some of those guys are on these forums.

Tramping around FRS/GMRS with out to lunch power ratings is not they way to do it.
