Get a 'AEG' with a Polarstar fusion engine. Expensive, but reliable and awesome performance.

Ditto on the ammo...

IMO - Start with an AEG, maybe upgrade to a P*. I would throw a P* into virtually all my guns if I could.
See if you can rent/loan/borrow/beg to borrow a GBBR for a round or three, get a feel for it.
I would be all over the GBBR world, if they made a weapon system I had interest in.
