Unless you're prepared to hunt down parts and accessories, I'd avoid anything that's discontinued. If it kicks the bucket a month down the road, it'll be difficult to obtain replacement parts, if it's something unique to the USP design.
Personally, I'd go with the 1911. Everyone loves a good 1911!
