You might find something without the same smooth shaft but I'd look for a screw/bolt of similar length and the same threading. If you find something longer, cut it to length, but buy a couple matching nuts and thread them on first to de-burr the end. Also with the head size if there is nothing of the same size, use a washer.
Be creative and it shouldn't cost more than $0.40 and a few minutes of your time. I tend to ask the HD staff for help as they know where there inventory is typically stored. Just explain that you don't need an exact match.
